The Story
If you're a switched-on livestock professional who genuinely loves cattle, thrives on low-stress stockmanship, and want to immerse yourself in regenerative grazing and carefully selected commercial genetics, this is a rare and genuine opportunity.
You'll hold full day-to-day operational responsibility for two properties spanning roughly 30,000 acres across the Morven and Amby districts in South West Queensland. The owners live on their third holding north of Augathella, giving you real independence on the ground. They are practical, forward-thinking pastoralists who treat their people as colleagues and actively want someone who will question the status quo and help continue to progress their organic breeding and finishing program and regenerate their landscape.
This is a true management role. The owners want you to take full ownership and take excellent pride in the cattle, infrastructure, and land. Whether you already understand regenerative grazing or simply bring an open mind and a strong desire to learn, they are committed to investing in your development. For the right person who proves themselves, lucrative incentives can be discussed after a successful trial period.
The Operation
The enterprise centres on a self-replacing Angus composite herd bred and selected strictly for quiet temperament, moderate frame, high natural fertility, objective measurements, and grass-fed performance. The breeding program places immense discipline on structural soundness, slick coats, polled genetics, and unassisted calving under natural pastoral conditions with minimal inputs. Strict reproduction benchmarks are enforced across the herd—including tight six-week joining periods and strict yearling heifer joining—producing fertile, commercially proven cattle and performance-tested sale bulls.
The entire operation is Certified Organic and built around calm, low-stress stockmanship and efficient grazing design. Extensive laneway networks run directly to undercover yards, allowing stock to be moved quietly and handled without hassle. Pasture management is driven by rotational grazing, contour work, and landscape rehydration to curb runoff,
build ground cover, and secure drought resilience. Rangeland goats are integrated across the properties as an effective biological tool to manage woody weeds and regrowth while generating a valuable secondary return.
The Role
Based at the Morven property (12 km north of town), you will take autonomous responsibility for daily station operations across both the Morven and Amby holdings. This is a genuine management position where the owners are hands-on when required for major strategic stock work, capital developments, and mustering, but will not be working alongside you day-to-day.
You will oversee daily herd health and husbandry practices, joining, calving, and mustering through established laneways using low-stress principles. Alongside the cattle, you will manage the rangeland goat program for grazing and to control regrowth. Rotational grazing shifts, seasonal pasture monitoring, and ensuring that stock waters, fences, solar bores, and storage tanks are maintained to high standards form a core part of the weekly routine.
Property development, infrastructure upkeep, and machinery operation sit directly alongside the livestock work. Practical experience with station machinery—particularly graders, dozers, and tractors—is highly valued (current scrub-pulling work will reduce over time). What matters most is genuine ownership, pride, and meticulous care of the cattle, country, fences, plant, and machinery.
A Heavy Vehicle licence (HR minimum, or willingness to obtain HC) is required to move livestock and goats between holdings and to regional processors.
The Ideal Candidate
We are searching for an honest, self-motivated, and even-tempered operator who takes real pride in their work,
respects gear and wants to advance their career in regenerative land management and cattle breeding.
Essential attributes include:
- Solid practical background in beef cattle husbandry, with an instinctive, calm approach to handling animals.
- Strong interest or background in regenerative farming and rotational grazing (prior experience is a bonus; genuine curiosity and willingness to learn are what count).
- Inquisitive mindset—someone who enjoys discussing herd genetics, thinking collaboratively, and asking questions rather than just following routine.
- Practical experience operating (or a strong willingness and aptitude to operate) station machinery, paired with an uncompromising commitment to cleanliness, care, and preventative upkeep.
- Current Heavy Vehicle driver's licence (HR minimum, or willingness to obtain HC).
- High personal integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to manage properties independently and reliably.
The Offer
A remuneration package of $115,000 to $135,000 base salary (commensurate with capability and machinery background) is provided, along with lucrative performance incentives to be discussed following a successful trial period. Accommodation is an extremely comfortable, fully air-conditioned 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom brick homestead with ensuite, set in established lawns with electricity supplied. A dedicated station work ute is provided, and the owners actively support attendance at relevant agricultural, grazing, and personal development courses to foster ongoing career growth.
The Morven property sits just 12 km from town, offering easy access to a friendly community with tennis, cricket, and race clubs, a local primary school, and secondary school bus services to Charleville. It provides an ideal, well-supported base from which to run the two properties with genuine independence.
