About Us

St Mary’s College is the oldest continuously operating girls’ school in South Australia. A
Reception to Year 12 Catholic Dominican College in the heart of Adelaide, we provide a
nurturing, purpose-driven education where every student is seen and supported to grow
into their full potential.

While we are steeped in tradition, we are not traditional. We understand the challenges
and opportunities facing girls today and intentionally design learning environments that
empower students to find their voice - and to use it. Girls at St Mary’s are encouraged to
become confident and courageous learners - unafraid to lead, challenge norms, and
speak up for what matters.

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and dedicated Primary School Teachers
to join the Junior School Team at St Mary's College.

As a member of our Junior School team, you will contribute to an inclusive learning
community where students flourish academically, socially and emotionally. You will
create engaging learning environments that build strong foundations, inspire curiosity,
promote wellbeing and support every student to achieve success.

This is an opportunity to work alongside passionate educators who value collaboration,
innovation and continuous improvement in a school committed to empowering girls to
become confident and capable learners.

Opportunities available include: Permanent, Fixed Term, Full-Time and Part-Time Positions
across both Early Years and Upper Primary/Middle Years.

Key Responsibilities include:

- Actively support and promote the Catholic and Dominican identity, mission and values of the College.
- Design, plan and deliver high-quality,

engaging learning experiences aligned with the Australian Curriculum and contemporary evidence-based pedagogical practices. Knowledge and experience with InitiaLit / Playberry Laser Literacy would be beneficial.
- Develop differentiated, inclusive and responsive learning programs that cater for the diverse needs of learners and promote successful learning outcomes for all students.
- Use student achievement and wellbeing data to inform planning, teaching and assessment practices.
- Create positive, safe and supportive learning environments that foster student engagement, agency and growth.
- Build strong relationships with students, families and colleagues through effective communication and collaboration.
- Demonstrate an excellent understanding of Restorative Practices, trauma-aware approaches and effective strategies that support student self-regulation, personal responsibility and positive wellbeing.
- Contribute positively to skilled learning communities and engage in ongoing professional growth.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance learning outcomes and contribute to the life of the College.

About you

You are a passionate and dedicated Junior School educator who places relationships at the
heart of learning. You create inclusive, engaging and well-organised learning environments
where every child feels known, valued and supported to succeed. Responsive to the diverse
strengths, interests and needs of your learners, you foster their academic, social and
emotional growth through differentiated practice and positive partnerships with families.

You are also enthusiastic about contributing to the wider life of the School and being an
active member of its community.

To be considered for this role, you will:

- Hold a Teacher’s Registration with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia where applicable.
- Demonstrate a commitment to supporting the Catholic and Dominican ethos of the College.
- Be an energetic, positive and dynamic educator with a passion for girls' education.
- Possess strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with students, families and colleagues.
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of contemporary teaching practices and evidence-based pedagogies.
- Have experience using assessment and data to inform teaching and improve student outcomes.
- Create highly engaging and inclusive learning environments both inside and outside the classroom.
- Demonstrate an understanding of social and emotional learning and student wellbeing practices.
- Be committed to collaboration, reflection and ongoing professional learning.
- Show initiative, flexibility and a willingness to contribute positively to the wider College community.

Why work for us?

- A rewarding opportunity within a highly regarded Catholic Girls School.
- Make a meaningful impact on students’ futures
- Work within a supportive and collaborative leadership team.
- Contribute to a vibrant school community.
