The Organisation
An exciting opportunity has arisen within a well-established Queensland Government team, responsible for managing complex property and liability insurance matters across Government.
You'll join a small, supportive and experienced team, working closely with senior stakeholders and contributing to the effective delivery of insurance services across Queensland Government departments.
The Role
As the Claims Manager, you will bring strong insurance knowledge and hands-on claims management experience to support the operational delivery of insurance services.
Working closely with senior leadership, you will play a key role in managing insurance matters, assessing risks, providing technical advice and supporting the broader insurance team.
Key responsibilities include:

- Assess insurance risks and determine appropriate premium rates, coverage terms and conditions.
- Analyse assets, liabilities and risk exposures to support informed underwriting decisions.
- Provide specialist advice on property and liability insurance, indemnities and contractual matters.
- Support the development and management of reinsurance arrangements for significant risks.
- Monitor claims trends and insurance industry developments to identify emerging risks.
- Build strong relationships with Government agencies, insurance brokers and key stakeholders.
- Prepare high-level reports, briefings and recommendations for senior management.
- Contribute to improvements in insurance policies, systems and operational processes.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring strong technical insurance expertise,



sound analytical skills and the ability to confidently engage with senior stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

- Proven experience in insurance claims management, ideally across property and liability insurance.
- Strong understanding of insurance policies, claims assessment, coverage and risk management.
- Previous underwriting experience or exposure will be highly regarded.
- Ability to analyse complex insurance information and provide practical, well-informed recommendations.
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and intermediate Excel proficiency.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across different teams.
- A adaptable, proactive approach with a willingness to support both operational and senior-level responsibilities.
- Relevant insurance qualifications will be highly regarded.
