An exciting opportunity awaits a proactive and experienced marketing and events professional to lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of strategic initiatives in a dynamic, high profile State Government agency.

Working closely with internal teams, suppliers, and key stakeholders across the defence, space, and government sectors, this role will drive major trade show participation, strategic sponsorships and targeted events that strengthen stakeholder engagement and enhance organisational profile and reputation.

The Manager Marketing and Events will also manage development and delivery of impactful marketing campaigns and initiatives across multiple portfolios, providing expert brand management, advice and guidance to support objectives.

Providing leadership to the marketing and events team, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing the effectiveness of marketing and events activities, contributing to the achievement of the agency's strategic priorities and outcomes.

Role Purpose/Context:

The Manager Marketing and Events has responsibility for leading large-scale events, marketing and sponsorship initiatives that elevate and grow the state's reputation as a national leader in the defence, space and veterans sectors.



This diverse role spans all agency portfolios and leads a collaborative team to drive activities that deliver meaningful impact across multiple sectors.

Key selection criteria:

- Proven experience working in a senior marketing or events role.

- Extensive knowledge and experience in advertising, marketing and brand management principles and practices, including the strategic development, implementation and governance of corporate brand identity.

- Strong track record of planning, delivering and evaluating a range of events, including trade shows, ensuring all activities are delivered on budget and to a high standard.

- Demonstrated experience leading strategic sponsorship programs and partnerships, including identifying opportunities, negotiating agreements, managing stakeholder relationships and delivering outcomes aligned with organisational priorities.

- Proficient in using digital tools and platforms (such as CMS, ticketing, project and task management tools) to support marketing and event delivery.

- Detailed knowledge of government policy and procedures and their application in relation to agency operations.

- Experience in VIP management.

- Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams and exercise delegated authority to achieve organisational outcomes.

- Extensive experience in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, providing technical advice across agency portfolios to ensure positive stakeholder experiences.

- Highly developed project management and organisational skills, particularly related to marketing activities and event management.

- Strong team player who contributes positively to team goals and culture,



and a willingness to support colleagues and take an active role in contributing ideas, knowledge and expertise.

- Capacity to work effectively in a dynamic and sometimes ambiguous environment, remaining focused and solution-oriented under pressure.

Special Conditions

This is a contract / term vacancy up to 24 months. The incumbent is required to enter into a performance agreement. Work outside of normal hours will be required and the position will require interstate and international travel involving overnight absences.

Essential Qualifications

Appropriate tertiary qualifications in marketing and event management or appropriate workplace experience.
