Southport Timbers is looking for an experienced, motivated and customer focused Internal Sales & Trade Counter Salesperson to join our team.

Proudly established in 1876, Southport Timbers has a long standing history of supplying quality timber and building materials to the Gold Coast building industry. As part of Williams Group Australia, we are a local family owned business built on generations of industry experience, strong customer relationships and a commitment to quality service.

This is a varied, hands on role working across our internal sales office and trade counter, where you will play an important part in delivering outstanding service to our builders, tradespeople, contractors and retail customers.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your day to day responsibilities will include:

- Serving customers at the trade counter and assisting with product enquiries.

- Handling incoming phone and email enquiries.

- Preparing quotes and following up sales opportunities.

- Processing customer orders accurately and efficiently.

- Building and maintaining solid relationships with builders, tradespeople and regular customers.

- Providing product advice and knowledge across a range of building materials.

- Liaising with suppliers regarding pricing, availability and lead times.

- Coordinating with yard, warehouse and delivery teams to ensure orders are completed correctly.

- Assisting with stock enquiries and product availability.





- Identifying opportunities to increase sales and grow customer accounts.

- Maintaining accurate customer and sales records.

- Working collaboratively with the team to achieve sales targets and business goals.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

- Experience in building supplies, hardware, construction or a related industry.

- Previous internal sales, trade counter or customer service experience.

- A good understanding of building products and the construction industry.

- Confidence dealing with builders, tradespeople and the general public.

- Excellent communication and organisational skills.

- Good computer skills and experience using sales or order processing systems.

- The ability to work accurately in a busy, fast paced environment.

- A proactive approach, strong work ethic and positive attitude.

- A genuine commitment to providing excellent customer service.

- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
