Description
Machinery & Truck Operator
Furness Group is looking for an experienced Machinery / Truck Operator to join our team.
This is a diverse, hands-on role offering the opportunity to operate a wide range of heavy machinery and equipment across several different industries and operations.
Equipment you will operate
The role involves operating and maintaining a variety of equipment, including:
- Kenworth prime mover and float trailer
- D7F and D6R dozers
- Wheel loader
- 8-tonne excavator
- Tractor and windrow turner
- Ground applicator
- Grader and roller
What the role involves
You will work across several areas of our business, including:
- Compost Facility: Operating loaders, dozers and windrow turners as part of our composting operations.
- Organic Waste to Land: Transporting and spreading organic materials as part of our agricultural land application operations.
- Property Maintenance: Working across three rural properties, including spraying, slashing and general property maintenance.
- Agricultural Operations: Tractor work, hay raking, paddock maintenance and general farm duties.
- Transport & Machinery: Moving machinery and equipment using the Kenworth and float, along with general machinery operation.
- Equipment Maintenance: Carrying out routine servicing,
cleaning and maintaining equipment to keep everything operating reliably.
A bit about the role
This is not your typical machinery operator position. You will be working across agriculture, transport, waste management and composting, so no two days are necessarily the same.
Part of the role involves working in the waste industry, which can sometimes be dirty and smelly. However, it also provides a great opportunity to work with a broad range of machinery, develop new skills and gain experience across different industries.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience operating heavy machinery and trucks.
- Takes pride in their work and looks after equipment.
- Is mechanically minded and comfortable carrying out basic maintenance.
- Can work independently and as part of a team.
- Is reliable, versatile and willing to get involved wherever needed.
- Holds the appropriate heavy vehicle licences (HC/MC preferred).
Why join Furness Group?
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, likes operating machinery and doesn't want to be stuck doing the same job every day.
There is plenty of opportunity to learn, develop new skills and grow with the business.
If you enjoy machinery, trucks, agriculture and getting your hands dirty, we'd like to hear from you.
