Location: Perth, Western Australia
Employment Type: Casual / Flexible
About AzoriaWe're Azoria, a growing Perth-based IT business that fixes problems, builds cool stuff and occasionally questions why printers even exist.
Based in Bassendean, we do a bit of everything - networking, IT infrastructure, hardware deployments, business automation, websites and general IT wizardry.
We work with local businesses and partner with IT providers across Australia who need someone on the ground in Perth to get things done.
We're growing faster than expected and it's getting to the point where an extra pair of hands would be pretty handy.
A little background: Azoria's owner is a diesel mechanic who somehow ended up in IT and genuinely finds methodical troubleshooting relaxing. Apparently, diagnosing a network fault isn't all that different from chasing an electrical fault through a truck. At least the network equipment is usually cleaner.
The point? We don't believe good technicians can only come from IT backgrounds.
The GigWe're looking for a casual IT Field Technician who's curious, mechanically or technically minded, and can be trusted to turn up to a client site with a good attitude and a willingness to figure things out.
This isn't your typical 9-to-5 helpdesk job. Work will be offered as jobs come in, and you'll have the flexibility to accept assignments based on your availability.
What might you be doing?
- Setting up desktops, laptops, monitors and peripherals.
- Swapping out hardware and troubleshooting things that have decided to stop working.
- Installing and configuring printers (unfortunately, they're still a thing).
- Patching network cables, installing switches and troubleshooting connectivity.
- Working in server rooms, communications racks and occasionally data centres.
- Assisting remote IT teams who need someone physically in office.
- Deploying IT equipment for office fit-outs, retail stores and other businesses.
- Taking photos, documenting your work and letting us know what you've found.
- Occasionally being asked to turn something off and back on again. Yes, seriously.
Some jobs might be after hours,
at short notice or outside the Perth metro area. You'll always have the option to discuss availability before accepting an assignment.
What We're Looking ForYou don't need 15 years of experience, a collection of certifications or the ability to configure a Cisco core switch blindfolded.
You don't even need to come from an IT background.
Seriously. Mechanics, electricians, tradies, warehouse workers, hospitality staff, career changers or people who've simply spent far too much time tinkering with computers at home - you're all welcome to apply.
If you've got a logical mind, enjoy solving problems and aren't afraid to learn something new, we're interested.
The essentials:
- A genuine interest in technology and how things work.
- A logical, methodical approach to troubleshooting.
- Willingness to learn, ask questions and take direction.
- Ability to follow instructions from remote engineers and clearly communicate what you're seeing.
- Comfortable working independently once you've been shown the ropes.
- Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
- Current driver's licence and reliable transport.
- Able to document your work without writing an entire novel.
Bonus points if you:
- Hold a current ACMA cabling registration, particularly Open registration. Structured, Optical Fibre or Coaxial endorsements are an even bigger bonus.
- Can operate Claude Code, Github & Docker and know your way around an SSH shell.
- Know your way around Windows PCs and basic networking.
- Have experience with servers, networking equipment or communications racks.
- Have worked in an MSP, helpdesk or IT field services role.
- Know the difference between a patch panel and a network switch.
- Have experience with Microsoft 365, Windows Server or UniFi equipment.
- Are studying IT and want some real-world experience.
- Have absolutely no IT qualifications but can explain how you diagnosed and fixed something that wasn't working.
- Can troubleshoot a printer without losing your will to live.
Don't have a cabling registration or IT qualifications? Apply anyway. We're looking for the right person, not just the right paperwork. Any regulated cabling work will, of course, require the appropriate registration.
What's In It For You?
- Flexibility: Accept work when it suits your availability.
- Variety: One day you might be replacing a workstation, the next you're helping deploy equipment in a server room.
- Experience: Get hands-on exposure to different businesses, technologies and environments.
- An prospect to learn: You won't be expected to know everything. If you're willing to learn, we're happy to share what we know.
- No corporate nonsense: We're a small, growing business. Good work, clear communication and a bit of initiative go a long way.
- Room to grow: As Azoria grows, there may be opportunities for more regular work.
Sound Like You?Maybe you're an experienced IT technician looking for extra work.
Maybe you're studying IT and trying to get your foot in the door.
Maybe you're a mechanic who's sick of getting covered in grease, a tradie looking for a change, or someone working in a completely unrelated industry who just happens to be the person everyone calls when their computer stops working.
We don't care where you've come from nearly as much as we care about how you think, how you approach problems and whether you're willing to learn.
Skills can be taught. Curiosity, reliability and a decent attitude are much harder to find.
Apply directly through LinkedIn.
Tell us a bit about yourself, your availability and something you've fixed or figured out that you're particularly proud of.
And if you actually enjoy troubleshooting printers, please apply immediately. We need to talk.
There are no guaranteed minimum hours for this role and work will be as it comes in until stable.
