This opportunity is suited to recent graduates or fourth-year engineering students looking to complete their skilled practice and build a career in a hands-on engineering environment.

Working alongside experienced engineers, technicians and project managers, you will gain exposure to the complete project lifecycle—from design and equipment selection through to programming, factory testing and site commissioning.

Our projects span data centers, power generation, utilities, renewable gas and industrial facilities, offering diverse technical challenges and practical engineering experience.

Key responsibilities

Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will:

- Assist with electrical, instrumentation and control system design, including schematics, control panel layouts, cable schedules and I/O documentation.
- Support the development of control philosophies, functional descriptions and sequences of operation.
- Gain experience in PLC, HMI and SCADA programming, configuration and troubleshooting.
- Assist with equipment selection, including instrumentation, switchgear, variable speed drives (VSDs) and PLC hardware.
- Support industrial communications and integration of generator controllers, protection systems and third-party equipment.
- Prepare technical documentation, test procedures and commissioning reports.
- Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT) and onsite commissioning.
- Work alongside technicians and electricians on equipment installation, testing and fault-finding.
- Review engineering drawings, client specifications and relevant Australian Standards.

- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, suppliers and subcontractors to support project delivery.

About you

You are a recent graduate or fourth-year engineering student with a genuine interest in electrical engineering, industrial automation and control systems. You enjoy practical problem-solving, are keen to learn and want to see your engineering work applied in real-world projects.

You will ideally have:

- A bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic or Control Systems Engineering, completed or nearing completion.
- A basic understanding of electrical circuits, three-phase power, motor control and electrical equipment.
- An interest in PLC programming, industrial automation and control systems.
- The ability to interpret basic electrical drawings and technical documentation.
- Good analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- A proactive attitude, attention to detail and willingness to learn from experienced engineers.
- The ability to work collaboratively and travel for project commissioning and site support.

Exposure to any of the following would be advantageous but is not essential:

- PLC programming, particularly Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley platforms, and HMI or SCADA development.
- AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical or similar design software.
- Industrial instrumentation, VSDs, motor control and electrical panels.
- Generator control systems, synchronising or power generation equipment.
- Industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP or Profinet.
- Programming languages such as ladder logic or structured text.
