Loulaki is a Greek taverna dedicated to bringing authentic Mediterranean flavours and traditional Greek hospitality to its customers. Our restaurant offers a selection of freshly prepared Greek dishes, using quality ingredients, traditional cooking techniques and authentic recipes.

We are seeking a passionate, skilled and experienced Cook to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will assist in preparing high-quality Greek and Mediterranean dishes while maintaining excellent standards of food preparation, presentation, hygiene and kitchen operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Prepare, season and cook a variety of traditional Greek and Mediterranean dishes in accordance with established recipes and restaurant standards.
- Prepare and cook meat, seafood, vegetables, sauces, marinades and traditional Greek accompaniments.
- Monitor food preparation and cooking processes to ensure consistency in taste, quality and presentation.
- Examine food ingredients to ensure freshness, quality and suitability for preparation.
- Operate kitchen equipment, including grills, ovens, stovetops and other commercial cooking appliances.
- Regulate cooking temperatures and monitor cooking times to ensure food is prepared safely and correctly.
- Prepare ingredients, including washing, cutting, marinating, portioning and seasoning food.
- Assist with planning daily food preparation requirements and managing kitchen workflow.
- Ensure appropriate portion sizes and presentation standards are consistently maintained.
- Store food and ingredients correctly in accordance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, utensils, food preparation areas and storage facilities.
- Monitor stock levels,



minimise food wastage and assist with ingredient ordering and stock rotation.
- Accommodate customer dietary requirements and special meal requests where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure effective and timely meal service.
- Train and guide junior kitchen staff in food preparation techniques and safe kitchen practices when required.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful applicant should possess:

- AQF Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or a relevant qualification. Equivalent overseas qualifications may be considered.
- At least two years of relevant commercial cooking experience, preferably in a Greek or Mediterranean restaurant.
- Sound knowledge of cooking methods, food preparation techniques and commercial kitchen operations.
- Familiarity with Greek and Mediterranean cuisine will be highly regarded.
- Strong understanding of Australian food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Good communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings and public holidays as required.
