About The Company
Flight Control is an education web app development company focused on creating digital tools that support teachers and students. As the product evolves, we are expanding beyond the web experience to make learning and teaching more accessible through a dedicated mobile application. Our goal is to help users interact with the product in ways that fit naturally into their everyday routines, whether they are planning lessons, accessing learning materials, or staying connected with educational activities.
About The Role
Flight Control is seeking a Mobile Application Developer to contribute to the transition of an established education web app into a richer mobile experience. This opportunity is open to candidates with a range of experience, from entry-level developers who are building their qualified skills to experienced engineers with a strong record of delivering mobile applications. You may specialize in Kotlin for Android, Swift for iOS, or bring experience with both platforms.
In this role, you will work with a team to turn product needs into reliable, intuitive mobile features for teachers and students. You will generally report to one designated individual, who will provide direction and help coordinate your work. Clear communication, a dependable work ethic, and a willingness to collaborate are important. Applicants are encouraged to share examples of previous Kotlin or Swift projects, including personal, academic, open-source, or professional work.
Qualifications
Applicants should have experience or demonstrated interest in developing mobile applications with Kotlin, Swift, or both. The level of experience may range from foundational knowledge to expert-level proficiency. You should be comfortable discussing your contributions to projects and explaining the decisions behind your work. A portfolio, code samples, published applications, or other relevant examples are welcome.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to collaborate respectfully with teammates and respond constructively to feedback. We value an organized, thoughtful approach to problem-solving, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing dependable work. Candidates should be motivated to learn about the needs of teachers and students and to consider usability when developing product features.
Experience with educational products is useful but is not required.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain mobile application features using Kotlin, Swift, or the platform most relevant to your experience. Work with the team to understand product requirements and translate them into clear, practical implementation plans.
Help adapt existing web product functionality for mobile devices while considering differences in screen size, navigation, accessibility, and user context.
Test your work, identify and investigate defects, and contribute to improvements in application quality and reliability. Communicate progress, questions, risks, and technical considerations to your manager and teammates. Participate in reviewing requirements and proposed solutions, incorporate feedback, and document relevant implementation details. Share project examples or technical insights when useful to the team, and continue building your skills as the mobile product develops.
Benefits
This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to a product designed for the education community and to help shape its mobile direction. You can apply your existing Kotlin or Swift skills while gaining experience with the practical challenges of bringing a web-based product to mobile users. The position is open to a broad range of experience levels, providing room to contribute according to your strengths and grow alongside the product.
Specific compensation, work arrangements, and other employment benefits will be discussed during the hiring process.
Equal Opportunity
Flight Control is committed to fair and inclusive hiring. We welcome applications from qualified candidates with different backgrounds, experiences, and levels of expertise. Employment decisions are based on relevant skills, qualifications, and role requirements, without discrimination on any basis protected by applicable law.
