About The Role

As a Backend Developer, you will design, develop and improve APIs and integrations that support business-critical systems. You will work with a cross-functional team throughout the software development lifecycle, from understanding requirements and assessing scope through solution design, implementation, testing and ongoing support. A key aspect of the role is creating and maintaining REST APIs, including integrations with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central APIs.

You will also contribute to technical operations, helping maintain software components, infrastructure, hosting environments and security practices. This permanent,



hybrid opportunity is based in Brisbane and offers scope to influence technical decisions while continuing to grow your expertise.

Qualifications

You will bring senior-level experience developing scalable, reliable backend services and a strong track record of designing and delivering REST APIs. In-depth experience working with Business Central APIs is important for this role. Your technical background should include Node.js development using JavaScript and TypeScript, as well as experience with Restify and relevant AWS services, such as AWS SDK, ECR, ECS, Fargate and Lambda.

You should be familiar with authentication and authorisation protocols, particularly OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect. Practical experience with Git, GitFlow, unit testing, test-driven development and end-to-end testing will help you contribute effectively to the team. You will also have a sound understanding of SOLID principles and software design patterns, and be able to apply them to produce maintainable, well-structured solutions.

Clear communication, a collaborative approach and the ability to explain technical concepts to colleagues with varying levels of technical expertise are essential.

Responsibilities

Design, build, test and refine backend APIs, integrations and software components. Develop and modify REST APIs, including integrations with Business Central, in line with agreed requirements and architectural standards. Work with users,



product stakeholders and technical colleagues to clarify project goals, analyse scope and translate needs into practical solutions.

Participate in solution design and contribute throughout the software development lifecycle. Collaborate with other developers to share knowledge, strengthen team capability and stay informed about relevant technologies and engineering practices. Apply secure development principles, authentication and authorisation standards, testing practices and version-control workflows.

Provide support for technical operations and help maintain application components, cloud infrastructure, hosting environments and security frameworks. Identify opportunities to improve reliability, performance, maintainability and delivery processes, and communicate progress, risks and technical considerations to the relevant team members.
