Meridian’s mission is to inspire philanthropy by connecting like-minded professionals and supporting worthwhile causes locally and internationally.

Help our donors feel connected to the difference they make

Meridian Giving Circle is seeking a thoughtful, proactive Donor Experience Lead to join our board and help build lasting relationships with our donor community.

This is an opportunity to shape how people experience Meridian, from their first welcome through to their ongoing involvement. You’ll help donors feel appreciated, understand the impact of their giving and find meaningful ways to deepen their support.

If you enjoy connecting with people, improving experiences and turning goodwill into lasting engagement, we’d love to hear from you.

About the role

As Donor Experience Lead, you’ll oversee the donor journey and help ensure every interaction with Meridian is welcoming, personal and well organised.

Working with fellow board members across marketing, charity engagement and partnerships, you’ll strengthen donor relationships, improve onboarding and develop practical systems that support retention, repeat giving and referrals.

This role combines personal relationship building with responsibility for the processes and information that make a consistently positive donor experience possible.

What you’ll do

Welcome and connect with donors

- Personally welcome new donors and build meaningful relationships across the donor community.
- Improve the onboarding journey, including sign-up processes, welcome communications and follow-up.
- Meet with significant new donors to understand their interests and encourage ongoing involvement.
- Create thoughtful opportunities to thank and recognise donors.

Strengthen engagement and ongoing support
- Work with the marketing portfolio to develop donor engagement and retention strategies.
- Collaborate with the charities portfolio to connect donors with the outcomes of their giving and opportunities within supported charities.
- Encourage referrals and help donors introduce others to Meridian.
- Identify potential partnership opportunities within the donor community and refer them to the partnerships portfolio.

Manage donor information and systems
- Own and maintain the donor database, keeping information accurate, current and helpful.
- Develop and automate engagement workflows using Meridian’s CRM tools.
- Track lifetime giving, repeat donations, referrals and engagement trends.
- Use donor feedback and data to recommend improvements and report progress to the board.

About you

You’re a warm, organised communicator who follows through and makes people feel valued. You’re comfortable building relationships while also managing the details that support a positive experience.

You’ll bring

- Experience in donor relations, fundraising, customer experience, relationship management, membership engagement or a related area.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to connect with people from different backgrounds.
- Clear written communication skills and a thoughtful approach to personalised communication.

- Confidence working with CRM systems, databases and engagement workflows.
- The ability to interpret feedback and data and turn findings into practical improvements.
- Sound judgement and discretion when handling donor information.
- A collaborative approach and a willingness to contribute actively to board activities.
- An interest in philanthropy and helping donors connect with charitable outcomes.

Previous not-for-profit or board experience would be valuable.

What success looks like

Your work will contribute to the following donor experience targets:

- Increase donor retention and repeat giving from 60% to 70%.
- Achieve a donor Net Promoter Score above 30.
- Encourage at least one referral per donor each year.
- Achieve an average new-donor onboarding rating of at least 3.5.

Board commitments

Alongside your portfolio responsibilities, you’ll be expected to:

- Attend nine board meetings each year between February and November, including the AGM.
- Attend all Meridian-hosted events.
- Introduce at least three new donors each calendar year, measured at the conclusion of the November giving event.
- Make an annual personal financial contribution of $1,000 to the giving circle.
- Maintain relevant CRM records and manage portfolio files through Meridian’s Google Drive.
- Commit to an expected three-year term, followed by a review and consideration of an extension or portfolio transfer.

Board members are encouraged to involve other donors as volunteers to help deliver portfolio activities.

Why join Meridian?

You’ll have the opportunity to shape a more connected donor community, contribute your skills at board level and help strengthen ongoing support for Meridian’s charitable work.

Your contribution will help donors see the impact of their generosity and feel inspired to stay involved.
