About Blundstone For more than 150 years we have made tough, no-nonsense footwear for work and play. Today our boots are sold in over 70 countries across six continents.
We are proudly family owned and run our Head Office from our home in Hobart, Tasmania. Every product is designed here, drawing on the best materials and expertise from around the world to keep pushing the boundaries of what footwear can do, from our iconic elastic-sided boots to gumboots, safety footwear for men and women, heavy industrial footwear and boots for every job in between.
Our people are dedicated and highly skilled, and their commitment to quality, innovation and our products is the foundation of our success.
About The Program
Our two-year Graduate Program is built to take you from graduate to Footwear Designer, and to lay the foundations for a future leading people and product at Blundstone. You will report to our Digital Design Officer throughout the program and have exposure to Design, Range, Technical, Production and Supply Chain operations. You will gain technical capability across the full life of a boot: concept and digital design, materials and technical development, costing, manufacturing and commercialisation.
By the end, you will understand not only how a Blundstone looks, but how it is engineered, built, costed and brought to market.
Alongside your technical development, you will be mentored by senior leaders across Blundstone Australia and gain early exposure to how decisions are made across the business. You will also travel within Australia and overseas, including supervised visits to our manufacturing partners and suppliers.
During The Program You Will
- Translate product briefs into concepts and design options,
taking ideas from first sketch to digital prototype.
- Build advanced skills in digital product creation and 3D rendering platforms.
- Turn end-user, market and industry research into insights that shape product design.
- Assess designs for manufacturability, sustainability and material performance.
- Learn how products are costed and carry out product costing analysis.
- Work directly with our manufacturing partners on product design and development.
- Help coordinate fit and wear testing programs and apply what you learn to the design.
- Train as an internal auditor and take part in ISO audits, progressing from observer to co-auditor.
- Work across teams and functions, building the stakeholder, influencing and project leadership skills that underpin future leadership roles.
- Lead your own design projects, culminating in a capstone project presented to the business.
About You You are a recent design graduate with a strong interest in footwear, materials and how things are made, not just how they look, and you have the ambition to grow into a leader. You will bring:
- A degree in Design (Footwear or Fashion), completed within the last two years or due for completion before commencement. Degrees in Industrial or Product Design will also be considered.
