About The Role

As a mid-weight PHP Developer, you will contribute to the development and delivery of a major project, applying your PHP and MySQL expertise alongside proven experience with JSP. You will also bring a thoughtful approach to problem-solving and be comfortable discussing technical ideas with colleagues and clients.

This is a contract position based in Sydney’s CBD, with the project expected to run through to the end of May. The successful applicant will be able to engage quickly with the project’s objectives and contribute constructively within an Agile or Scrum environment.

Qualifications

- Understanding of object-oriented programming, MVC architecture, and Agile and Scrum practices.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs and working with RESTful web services.
- Familiarity with Backbone and Angular.
- Exposure to front-end tooling such as Bower, Grunt, and Yeoman.
- Experience with an enterprise content management system is preferred, including platforms such as Sitecore, AEM, SDL, or Interwoven.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas and present information to clients.
- A self-starting approach, sound judgement, and the ability to take responsibility or provide direction when required.
- A collaborative working style and an interest in coordinating development with UX and other project contributors.

Responsibilities

- Develop, enhance, and maintain project functionality using PHP and MySQL, drawing on JSP experience where required.
- Build and support responsive front-end features using HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, AJAX, and Bootstrap.

- Collaborate with developers and UX designers to align implementation with design intent and agreed workflows.
- Integrate third-party services and APIs, including RESTful web services, and help ensure integrations operate reliably.
- Apply object-oriented and MVC principles to produce maintainable, well-structured code.
- Contribute to planning, implementation, testing, and delivery within Agile or Scrum processes.
- Identify technical issues, communicate potential solutions, and take initiative in progressing work.
- Share ideas clearly, provide project updates, and participate in client discussions or presentations as appropriate.
- Help the project team meet agreed milestones and prepare for completion by the end of May.
