About Syenta

Syenta is pioneering a new era in semiconductor manufacturing with our groundbreaking Localized Electrochemical Manufacturing (LEM) technology. Our manufacturing products build cutting edge advanced packaging for the semiconductor industry by combining patterning and metallization into a single tool. We do that by achieving high-speed, high-resolution metallization at significantly lower costs and energy use, while minimizing emissions and waste.

Founded in Australia, our growing footprint in the US represents a key milestone in our journey. We are building a world-class team where seasoned engineers and ambitious emerging talent collaborate to solve some of the toughest challenges in semiconductor manufacturing.

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and driven Process Engineer to join our fast-paced, rapid growing, and dynamic team. In this high-impact role, you will apply your experience in semiconductor microfabrication to develop and manufacture critical parts of Syenta’s localised electrodeposition process. This is a mid-level role and requires a hands-on approach to microfabrication and characterization.

About you

We are seeking an extraordinary person who is driven by a deep passion for technology. You have a proven track record of pushing for results and driven for success. You are an agile person who shrives in a fast-paced working environment. You are not afraid of tackling problems that do not have known solutions, your problem-solving prowess enables you to navigate complex landscapes with ease. You enjoy hands-on technical work.

Beyond your technical expertise, you foster a collaborative environment, encouraging the exchange of ideas and nurturing innovation. Your effective communication style ensures that complex concepts are conveyed with clarity, driving the team towards shared success.

Roles & Responsibilities

Process Development and Ownership

- Follow,

maintain and develop process flows for the fabrication of Syenta’s LEM stamps.
- Take ownership of assigned process modules from definition through to stable, repeatable execution.
- Characterise and optimise unit processes (e.g. lithography, deposition, etch, plating).
- Execute structured experiments and data analysis to improve yield, uniformity and throughput.
- Document processes clearly through run sheets, SOPs and technical reports so that work is traceable and transferable.

Prototype Fabrication and Internal Support

- Manufacture prototype LEM stamps to support the development of Syenta’s mechanical, mechatronic and software systems.
- Provide responsive, hands-on support to the process team on emerging priorities, including troubleshooting, failure analysis and short-turnaround tasks.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Work closely with materials engineers, electrochemists, mechanical engineers and software teams to translate system-level requirements into fabrication specifications.
- Contribute process knowledge to design reviews.
- Help to shape a fully integrated and world-class product through cross-functional collaborations.

Technology Transfer and External Partnerships

- Work with national and international commercial fabs and research facilities to transfer internally developed processes into industrial manufacturing prototypes.
- Act as a technical point of contact with external partners, preparing transfer documentation, defining acceptance criteria and resolving process differences between sites.

Required Experience

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Nanotechnology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field.
- Minimum combined 4 years’ experience working in academia or industry on microfabrication processes.
- Hands-on microfabrication experience is required, including metallization, etching, lithography and thin film deposition.
- Experience working in semiconductor-grade cleanroom environments.
- Experience with direct write photolithography or contact lithography.
- Experience with KLayout or related CAD software.
- Experience with metrology tools such as optical inspection, 3D profilometry, SEM, and thin-film characterisation.

Desirable Experience:

- Master of research or Ph.D. with proven research experience.
- Have industry experience.
- Experience with advanced packaging techniques such as wafer bonding and die bonding.
- Experience with nano-imprint lithography.
- Experience working with commercial semiconductor fabs.
- Experience with copper electroplating.

Please do not feel as though you need to tick every box to contact us – if you believe you are a good fit, we would love to hear from you. Why Choose Syenta?
