Are you the sort of person who can turn your hand to just about anything?
We’re looking for a practical, hands-on Maintenance Officer to join our Facilities and Maintenance team. It’s a role with plenty of variety, from fixing things that need fixing and keeping our facilities looking their best, through to helping get the College ready for events and responding to whatever the day throws your way.
You don’t need a formal trade qualification. What matters to us is that you’re capable, reliable, enjoy practical work and take pride in getting things done properly.
Reporting to the Head of Maintenance and Facilities, you’ll work as part of a friendly and supportive team helping to keep our buildings, grounds and facilities safe, well maintained and looking their best.
In this role, you will:
- Carry out general repairs and day-to-day maintenance across the College
- Tackle a range of handyman jobs, minor repairs and preventative maintenance
- Respond to maintenance requests and help keep our facilities operating smoothly
- Assist with the upkeep and presentation of College buildings, grounds and facilities
- Help with room, furniture and equipment set-ups for College activities and events
- Work closely with the Head of Maintenance and Facilities and the broader team to respond to day-to-day priorities
- Assist and liaise with contractors as required
- Keep an eye out for maintenance and safety issues and help get them sorted
- Work safely and contribute positively to the day-to-day life of the College.
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
- Experience in general maintenance, handyman, building, facilities or similar work
- Good practical skills and the confidence to tackle a variety of jobs
- A reliable, flexible and can-do approach
- Positive communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good organisational skills and an eye for detail
- A strong commitment to working safely.
Formal trade qualifications aren’t required. Experience in a trade, construction, facilities or property maintenance environment would be great, but we’re equally interested in people who have built up strong practical maintenance skills through experience. Willingness to obtain bus licence (medium-rigid) to support bus maintenance cycle would be highly regarded.
Why join us?
If you like variety and the satisfaction of seeing the difference your work makes, this is a great role.
You’ll join a great team, work across an interesting and busy College environment, and have plenty of opportunity to use your practical skills. Most importantly, you’ll be part of a community where the work of our Facilities and Maintenance team is valued and makes a real difference every day.
Our staff also enjoy:
- Fitness Passport membership
- Sonder wellbeing support
- Fortnightly staff lunches
- Salary packaging options
- A strong sense of community and purpose
