Vault Cloud

Canberra

Vault Cloud is an Australian sovereign cloud provider with 14 years of experience delivering secure, scalable and high-performance cloud capability. Operating at national hyperscale, we provide the infrastructure to securely manage critical data and demanding workloads. Our experience spans some of Australia’s most security-sensitive environments within Government and Critical Infrastructure, giving us deep expertise in sovereign cloud and secure data management.

As organisations increasingly adopt AI, Vault Cloud is extending this capability to enable secure, high-performance intelligence at scale. Our platform combines secure full cloud services, open architecture and high-performance AI inferencing, supported by a valued partner ecosystem. Together, these capabilities give organisations the capacity, flexibility and performance to run critical workloads while maintaining sovereignty, security and control of their data.

We are looking for a sharp L2 Operations Engineer (Network) to guarantee the resilience, security, and peak performance of our critical network environments. Your primary purpose is to ensure zero-fail operational execution, acting as the gatekeeper for network stability through disciplined incident management, swift technical triage, and proactive network optimisation. This role can be based in either our Canberra or Sydney office.

If you are a network specialist who thrives on dissecting complex routing or connectivity issues, transforming manual work into automated solutions, and bridging the gap between real-time operations and engineering squads, this is your chance to own a high-impact, high-security network realm.

You will:

- Own L2 incident response by acting as the second-line triage point for escalated issues, resolving complex tickets, and routing unresolved infrastructure bottlenecks to the right engineering squads.
- Execute operations and deployments by performing system configuration changes, validating environment health, and collaborating with technology teams to push new products live under strict change controls.
- Lead major incident triage by conducting deep-dive investigations and root-cause analysis during outages, coordinating cross-team efforts to deliver clear workarounds and long-term fixes.
- Drive continuous reliability by identifying manual overhead or performance bottlenecks, contributing directly to infrastructure automation, and partnering with development squads to build system resilience.
- Own operational knowledge management by authoring comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintaining clear runbooks to elevate collective team capacity.

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate the following:

- Australian Citizenship: Must hold or have the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance.
- 3-5 years of experience in network administration, systems operations, or technical support within complex, highly regulated IT/cloud environments.
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills to handle high-pressure incidents,

root-cause troubleshooting, and clear stakeholder updates.
- Familiarity with structured frameworks like ITIL or Agile, with a solid focus on process automation and continuous improvement.
- Industry Certifications: CCNA, CCNP (CCIE highly regarded), or CompTIA (A+, Network+, Security+, Linux+), or equivalent.
- Enterprise IP Networking & Gateways: Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv4/v6, subnetting, BGP, and hands-on management of Enterprise Firewalls (e.g., Fortigate).
- Clustering & High-Availability: Experience with resilient network scenarios including Firewall Clustering, VRRP/HSRP, ECMP, and Etherchannel/LAG/vPC.
- Linux & Automation Skills: Strong proficiency navigating the CLI across Linux/*nix variants, using Python or Shell Scripting to eliminate manual overhead.
- The grit and professional maturity required to navigate a fast-paced, expanding scale-up environment where rapid execution and practical problem-solving are paramount.

What’s in it for you?

- Be at the forefront of cyberwarfare, the greatest technology challenge of our generation
- Up to 10% of time dedicated to learning & development
- 5 days of wellness leave per year
- Company paid parental leave
- A diverse culture where we celebrate our people and their unique, individual perspectives

Our culture is a big part of who we are so, for us, it is vital that each of our people (known as Vaulter’s) align to and are continuously guided by our core values.
