Our Rainbow House is an Australian-based charity working in partnership with a local community in Zambia to improve access to education and create better opportunities for children and their families. We operate a primary school in Chainda, near Lusaka, providing children with a safe, supportive learning environment and the opportunity for a brighter future.
We are seeking a Board Member with strengths in Marketing and Communications. In addition to the responsibilities of an ordinary Board Member, you will contribute your marketing and communications knowledge and experience to:
- Guide the development of Our Rainbow House’s marketing and communications strategy and help build the organisation’s public profile.
- Provide strategic advice on branding, social media, public relations, website content and public awareness.
- Ensure communications reflect the organisation’s values, mission, strategic goals and partnership between Australia and Zambia.
- Help identify ways to reach recent audiences, attract and retain donors, and strengthen supporter relationships.
- Advise on effective and culturally respectful ways to share stories and communicate the impact of the organisation’s work.
- Identify opportunities for media exposure, business partnerships, community connections and philanthropic support.
- Share professional knowledge and help build the organisation’s marketing and communications capability.
- Provide advice on emerging trends, data privacy, digital platforms and potential communication risks.
- Review and advise on the effectiveness of marketing activities, website performance and social media strategies.
The role is strategic and advisory, providing guidance and oversight rather than managing day-to-day marketing and communications activities. Board meetings are held online once a month on the third Monday of each month at 5:30pm AEST.
