Marxcraft creates bespoke luxury interiors, furniture and fit-outs for superyachts, commercial and residential spaces, and aviation projects. Our work brings together boatbuilding expertise and master craftsmanship. Based across our Hemmant head office / workshop and our Manly operations, our highly skilled team values quality, integrity, clear communication and thoughtful collaboration.
We’re looking for an experienced accounts and payroll professional who enjoys keeping the details in order and helping a busy business run smoothly. You’ll work closely with the Managing Director and management team, supporting the people and projects behind our diverse portfolio of interesting and high profile work.
This pivotal role would suit a team player who combines strong MYOB skills with a disciplined approach, sound judgement and a friendly, professional demeanour.
The Opportunity
You’ll take ownership of day-to-day accounts and payroll administration, with opportunities to improve processes and contribute ideas. Accounts accuracy and timely payroll will be your core priorities, alongside office and project administration and coordination support for management and the team.
The role is a permanent part-time position offering 20–30 hours per week, with Monday to Thursday preferred. It is based in office at Hemmant, with occasional work at our Manly operations.
For the right person,
there is potential to grow into a broader Office Manager role as skills, experience and business needs develop.
The Role
- Payroll: Prepare and check payroll in MYOB, review timesheets and leave records, and resolve discrepancies before approval.
- Accounts payable: Process and code supplier invoices, reconcile statements and prepare payments for approval.
- Accounts receivable: Prepare customer invoices, allocate receipts, reconcile accounts and follow up outstanding payments professionally.
- Reconciliations and reporting: Complete bank and credit-card reconciliations, maintain accurate records and prepare information for cash-flow, month-end / year-end reporting and other ad-hoc financial reporting.
- Project accounts: Support job costing and labour allocation, check timesheets and project information for accuracy, and help management monitor project costs.
- Accountant support: Prepare supporting records for BAS and other reporting requirements, working with the external accountant.
- Administration: Maintain purchase orders, employee records and document registers; support induction, training, WHS documentation, software implementation and toolbox meeting records; and follow up agreed project actions and deliverables.
- Process improvement: Help improve systems, research practical solutions,
document procedures and actively support administrative projects.
What you’ll bring
- At least 5 years’ hands-on MYOB experience across payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Practical experience processing Australian payroll and completing account reconciliations.
- Strong Excel or spreadsheet skills, including checking exports, auditing and comparing data and investigating discrepancies.
- An organised, meticulous and accurate approach, along with the ability to manage priorities and follow work through to completion.
- Clear communication, confidence following up overdue accounts, and sound judgement about when to ask questions or raise concerns.
- Discretion when handling financial and employee information, and a warm, helpful and respectful approach to colleagues, customers and suppliers.
Experience in marine, manufacturing, construction, joinery or another project-based business would be highly regarded. Job costing, award-based payroll, BAS support, project coordination and systems improvement experience would also be very useful. Relevant Australian bookkeeping or payroll qualifications are highly desirable.
