Maidstone

At Alstom, we build what millions depend on daily - rail transportation systems that can't afford to fail. We're more than 85,000 people worldwide creating the industry's most diverse portfolio: high-speed trains, metros, trams, maintenance services and integrated systems.

More Than a Job: A Mission!

Are you a hands-on problem solver who thrives on uncovering faults, improving performance, and keeping complex systems running at their best? Join Alstom's Product Introduction team and play a pivotal role in supporting the next generation G Class Trams.

As a Lead Technician, you'll be at the forefront of tram performance and reliability, working closely with the Project PI Manager to ensure our trams operate safely, efficiently, and seamlessly in service. From testing and analysing train subsystems to troubleshooting technical issues, implementing baseline software modifications, and driving continuous reliability improvements, no two days will be the same. The role will be primarily based in Maidstone, VIC, and requires to be on site 5 days a week.

Your Role, Your Impact!

- Executing testing activities across tram subsystems, including functional, integration, regression, type and routine testing.

- Troubleshooting complex electrical, mechanical and software faults to maintain fleet performance and reliability.

- Analysing test results, fault logs and operational data to identify root causes and drive continuous improvement.

- Driving reliability initiatives through RCA, FRACAS investigations and corrective action implementation.

- Utilising specialist diagnostic tools and train software to monitor performance, investigate failures and generate insights.

- Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver timely solutions and exceptional customer outcomes.

- Promoting a strong safety culture while building trusted, long-term relationships with customers and internal teams.

All about you:

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

- Experience in testing, troubleshooting and fault-finding across electrical, software or rolling stock systems.

- Strong skills in electrical schematics, diagnostics, log analysis and technical problem-solving.

- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information to a range of stakeholders.

- A customer-focused, safety-first mindset with flexibility to work.

Benefits:

- 18 weeks paid parental leave

- Purchase up to 3 additional weeks of annual leave

- Versatile public holidays - swap public holidays to suit your preference

- ME day - an additional paid day off each year

- Employee Assistance Program (EAP) plus access to our Wellbeing Hub

- Family discounts on car hire and car sharing

- Discounted private medical insurance, novated leasing

- Salary Continuance Insurance.

Here, progress isn't always easy but the impact is real. Because the scale is massive, the tasks are complex when the system runs, the train moves, and the city connects that feeling stays with you. And the legacy lasts.
