About the role

This is a combined operational role working across insectary and packaging/dispatch operations. Depending on production requirements, you will assist with both insectary and biological production, and packaging and dispatch of live biological products.

Key responsibilities

Insectary & biological production:

- Completing routine insectary rounds and monitoring environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity

- Watering and caring for cultures and plant material

- Monitoring insect cultures and highlighting production issues as they arise

- Cleaning cultures and helping maintain cultures free from contamination

- Collecting and preparing beneficial insects for packaging and field release

- Maintaining clean, organised insectary and production areas

- Following culture schedules, quarantine requirements and Biological Services SOPs

Packaging & dispatch:

- Preparing and organising biological products for customer orders

- Matching product to packing slips and dispatch documentation

- Packaging live biological products carefully and accurately

- Working with canisters, sachets, vials, cards and other Biological Services product formats

- Applying customer, freight and quarantine identification where required

- Assisting with wrapping and collating orders

- Checking that orders and paperwork are complete before dispatch

- Organising packed orders according to the required freight method





- Assisting the team to meet daily freight and carrier cut-off requirements

- Maintaining accurate packaging and dispatch information

About you

- Reliable and punctual, particularly when production and freight deadlines need to be met

- Careful and detail-oriented, with the ability to follow instructions and established procedures consistently

- Comfortable performing hands-on, repetitive work where accuracy is significant

- Able to work both independently and cooperatively within a production team

- Organised and able to keep work area clean and orderly

- Comfortable using basic computer systems and following printed or electronic production and dispatch information

- Willing to learn about beneficial insects, biological control products and production processes

- Safety conscious and willing to speak up when something doesn't look right

- Flexible enough to assist in different parts of the operation as production and dispatch requirements change

- Experience in horticulture, agriculture, nursery or greenhouse work, food or production environments, or warehousing, packing or dispatch would be advantageous
