Commis Chef | Italian-led Pub Kitchen | Inner West Sydney

$60,000-70,000 + super | Full time | Start ASAP

A well-known inner west Sydney pub is building out its kitchen under a new Head Chef, and we are looking for a Commis Chef to come in and be trained properly.

This is a role for someone early in their career who wants to learn, not someone already running a section. The Head Chef has said plainly that he wants to bring someone up and mentor them, so the person who gets this job will be taught rather than thrown in.

The menu is approachable Italian alongside elevated pub classics. Wood fired pizza and share plates, pasta, fish and steaks off the grill, and the pub staples done properly. Bread is made on site, meat is portioned in house and fresh fish is battered to order, so you will learn real technique on real product.

The role

- Commis Chef, full time, working under the Head Chef and Sous Chef
- Prep and section support across a 7 day operation, lunch and dinner
- Learning fish, butchery, pasta and the wood fired oven as you go
- Keeping your station clean, organised and ready

What we are looking for

- Some kitchen experience. An apprenticeship, a commis role,



or solid time as a cook or kitchen hand who wants to step up
- Someone who turns up on time, presents well and is honest about what they do and do not know
- A genuine want to learn. That matters more here than what you can already do
- Full unrestricted working rights in Australia. Sponsorship is not available for this role
