About us
Bridge to Understanding is an established NDIS-registered provider expanding from Tasmania into Western Australia. We are seeking an Occupational Therapist to help establish our services in Rockingham and support participants across the surrounding communities.
Our approach is neuro-affirming, person-centred and trauma-informed. We take time to understand each participant, build trusting relationships and provide practical support that makes a difference in everyday life.
About the role
You will support participants to develop independence, participate in meaningful activities and feel more confident at home, at school and in the community.
Your caseload will be discussed with you and shaped around your experience, clinical skills and areas of interest. There is scope for paediatric, adult or mixed work, with appointments in participants’ everyday environments and telehealth where appropriate.
As an early member of our Western Australia team, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to how our local occupational therapy service develops.
Key responsibilities
- Complete occupational therapy assessments and develop practical, individualised intervention plans.
- Deliver therapy that supports daily living skills, sensory needs, emotional regulation, play, school participation and community access, according to each participant’s goals.
- Complete functional capacity assessments and reports within your scope of practice.
- Assess and recommend assistive technology and environmental changes where appropriate to your experience and competence.
- Work alongside participants, families, carers, support workers, educators and other professionals.
- Provide practical guidance that helps participants use strategies between appointments.
- Develop therapy assistant programs and provide appropriate delegation and oversight where required.
- Maintain accurate clinical notes, reports and other documentation.
- Manage appointments, reporting deadlines and participant funding responsibly.
- Contribute to team discussions, service development and relationships with local referral partners.
- Uphold participant rights, privacy, safeguarding and professional standards.
About you
You are a thoughtful, approachable practitioner who values collaboration and respects different ways of communicating, learning and participating.
You will bring:
- A recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy and current AHPRA registration.
- Relevant clinical experience, with NDIS experience highly regarded.
- Strong assessment, clinical reasoning and report-writing skills.
- A neuro-affirming approach that respects participant choice, autonomy and individual needs.
- The ability to work independently while staying connected with a broader team.
- Clear communication and a practical approach to supporting families and support teams.
- A current driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle for community appointments.
- Relevant worker screening and Working with Children clearance for the agreed caseload.
Experience in paediatrics, functional capacity assessments, assistive technology or complex disability would be welcomed. Please tell us about your particular strengths and interests.
Working with BTU
This is an opportunity to help build a local service with an established organisation behind you. You will work alongside our directors and broader team, with opportunities for collaboration across occupational therapy, behaviour support and other disciplines.
Hours, employment arrangements, remuneration, caseload and clinical supervision requirements will be discussed during recruitment.

Please send your CV and a brief introduction outlining your experience, preferred working arrangements and the types of participants you enjoy supporting.
