Bilbies ELC & Kinder is seeking two experienced early childhood educators to join our team as permanent full-time Room Leaders.

Our service provides a Montessori and play-based learning environment that encourages children’s curiosity, independence, creativity and participation.

Reporting to the Director/Nominated Supervisor, each Room Leader will manage their assigned room’s daily operations, lead and support educators, and work with the Educational Leader to deliver a safe, inclusive and engaging educational program appropriate to the children’s ages and developmental needs.

Key responsibilities

· Lead the room’s daily routines, educational program and care practices, maintaining appropriate supervision and educator-to-child ratios.

· Plan, implement and evaluate learning experiences aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework V2.0 and Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework.

· Observe, assess and document children’s learning, interests and developmental needs, and use this information to inform individual and group planning.

· Mentor and support educators, students and volunteers, and assist with staff induction, feedback and career development.

· Build respectful relationships with children and families, communicate children’s progress, and support inclusion, cultural safety and children with additional needs.

· Implement child safety, mandatory reporting, health, hygiene, safe sleep, medication and emergency procedures.

· Maintain accurate and confidential records, identify and report risks and incidents, and contribute to the service’s Quality Improvement Plan and assessment and rating processes.

· Undertake Responsible Person duties when appropriately appointed,



including supervising daily service operations and responding to operational, safety and compliance matters.

Qualifications experience and capabilities

Applicants must have:

· An ACECQA-approved Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, or approved degree in Early Childhood Education.

· Previous experience in a leadership role in early childhood education and care, with the ability to guide and support a team.

· Sound knowledge of the National Quality Framework, National Quality Standard, Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, EYLF V2.0 and VEYLDF.

· Knowledge of applicable child protection, mandatory reporting, Victorian Child Safe Standards and Family Assistance Law requirements.

· Strong communication, organisation, observation and documentation skills.

· A valid Working with Children Check and the suitability required to work with children.

· Current approved first aid, CPR, anaphylaxis and emergency asthma management training, together with required child safety and child protection training.

· The willingness and ability to meet the requirements for appointment as a Responsible Person.
