About the Role

Chitchat News Agency is seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Manager (General) to oversee the day-to-day operations and overall management of our retail business. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing store operations, supervising employees, coordinating purchasing and inventory, monitoring financial performance, and implementing strategies to maximize sales and profitability.

The role requires strong leadership, commercial awareness and organizational skills, together with the ability to maintain high standards of customer service, store presentation and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee the daily operations of the news Agency, including store opening and closing procedures, staff allocation and workflow coordination.
- Ensure the effective implementation of operational procedures, sales policies, pricing practices and customer service standards.
- Monitor store performance and implement operational improvements to enhance efficiency and profitability.
- Maintain appropriate merchandising standards, product displays, store presentation and promotional activities.
- Manage staff recruitment, selection, onboarding, training and development.
- Prepare employee rosters and allocate duties according to operational requirements and business demand.
- Supervise employees, monitor performance and conduct performance reviews.
- Address staffing issues and promote a productive, professional and customer-focused working environment.
- Determine appropriate product ranges and stock requirements based on customer demand,



sales trends and seasonal requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels, conduct stock checks and implement procedures to minimize stock losses, wastage and discrepancies.
- Coordinate purchasing activities, negotiate with suppliers and manage supplier relationships.
- Establish retail pricing, monitor product margins and coordinate promotional pricing strategies to support sales and profitability.
- Prepare and monitor sales targets, operating budgets, revenue and expenditure.
- Monitor sales reports, cash flow, profit margins and operating costs to assess business performance.
- Oversee cash handling, payment transactions, reconciliations and the maintenance of accurate financial records.
- Analyze sales trends and financial information to identify opportunities for increased revenue, improved cost control and business growth.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and address customer enquiries, complaints and feedback.
- Develop and implement sales and promotional strategies to attract customers, increase sales and encourage repeat business.
- Monitor customer purchasing patterns and market trends to inform product selection and business decisions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable workplace health and safety requirements, employment obligations and relevant retail regulations.
- Implement and maintain workplace policies, operational procedures and risk-management practices.




- Maintain accurate business records and ensure compliance with relevant statutory and internal reporting requirements.

Selection Criteria

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

- At least two years of relevant experience in retail management or a comparable retail supervisory or management position.
- Demonstrated ability to manage daily retail operations and coordinate business activities.
- Experience in staff recruitment, training, rostering, supervision and performance management.
- Knowledge of retail purchasing, inventory management, supplier negotiations, merchandising and pricing.
- Ability to monitor budgets, analyze sales performance and manage operating costs.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, organizational and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service abilities.
- Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and applicable employment and retail compliance obligations.
