About Highball Bar

Highball Bar is an exciting new venue bringing a fresh, premium social experience to Sydney. We’re looking for an energetic, hands-on Venue Manager to help shape the venue from the ground up, lead a great team and build a loyal community of guests.

About the role

Reporting to the venue owner/General Manager, you’ll oversee the bar’s day-to-day operations while helping establish Highball Bar’s identity and reputation. Alongside delivering excellent drinks and service, you’ll contribute to social media and marketing activity that brings the venue to life and attracts new guests.

Key responsibilities

- Lead, coach and develop the bar team, including recruitment, onboarding and training.
- Manage rosters and coordinate daily opening, service and closing procedures.
- Deliver warm, efficient service and maintain high standards for drinks, presentation and cleanliness.
- Oversee drink and food menus, specials and seasonal offerings in collaboration with venue leadership.
- Manage ordering, stocktakes, inventory, wastage and supplier relationships.
- Monitor sales, labour and beverage costs, and support the venue in meeting its targets.
- Help plan and promote events, DJ nights, launches, group bookings and other venue activations.
- Create and schedule engaging social media content, including photos, short-form video, stories and event updates.
- Maintain a consistent Highball Bar voice and visual identity across social channels.
- Track social media and promotional performance, using results to improve reach, engagement and bookings.
- Respond to online comments and guest enquiries in a timely, professional manner.




- Build relationships with local businesses, creators, suppliers and community partners.
- Ensure compliance with NSW liquor licensing, RSA, workplace health and safety, and food-safety requirements.
- Work closely with the kitchen, floor and events teams to ensure smooth service.

About you

- Management experience in a busy bar or similar venue, including leading staff and managing late-night service.
- Robust knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine and beer.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Experience with rostering, stock control, ordering and point-of-sale systems.
- Confident in creating social media content and using platforms such as Facebook Instagram and Website.
- An understanding of digital marketing, promotions, brand voice and audience engagement.
- Creative, organised and comfortable turning ideas into practical venue promotions.
- Excellent communication and guest-service skills.
- Current NSW RSA competency card, or willingness to obtain one before commencing.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
