About the Role
Class Power Systems is looking for a practical and organised Project Engineer to manage our growing portfolio of generator installation projects.
You'll coordinate projects from tender, planning, and procurement through to installation, commissioning and final handover. Working closely with management, suppliers, subcontractors, technicians and clients, you'll help ensure projects are delivered safely on schedule and to the required specifications.
The role is primarily focused on project management and coordination, with regular site involvement to monitor progress, resolve issues and work alongside our installation teams. We believe understanding the work on the ground is an important part of successfully managing projects, so a practical, hands-on approach is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Project management: Coordinate projects from planning through to handover, including schedules, budgets, milestones and outstanding works.
- Procurement: Coordinate equipment orders, supplier quotations and delivery schedules for generators and associated equipment.
- Technical coordination: Review drawings and specifications, resolve technical queries and coordinate mechanical and electrical installation requirements.
- Site coordination: Monitor installation progress, coordinate subcontractors and trades, and assist with practical site activities when required.
- Communication: Liaise with clients, suppliers, consultants, technicians and internal management to keep projects moving.
- Documentation and handover: Maintain project records, track variations and defects, and coordinate commissioning reports and handover documentation.
- Team support: Assist the wider Project & Engineering team with other tasks as required and be prepared to get hands-on with site activities when project demands call for it.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Experience in project engineering, project coordination or project management within electrical, mechanical, construction or industrial environments.
- An Electrical or Mechanical Engineering qualification, or relevant industry experience.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and coordination skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to prepare professional reports, spreadsheets, presentations and project documents.
- Strong attention to detail and an eye for presentation, formatting and document aesthetics.
- A practical, proactive approach, with a willingness to get hands-on and work alongside the installation team when required.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks and work collaboratively with the wider team.
- Willingness to travel to project sites across NSW, ACT, VIC and QLD as required.
- Current driver's licence and White Card
Desirable (but not essential):
- A Mechanical Engineering background, although candidates with an Electrical Engineering background are encouraged to apply.
- Experience with diesel generators, standby power systems or industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of fuel systems, airflow and ventilation,
acoustic attenuation and exhaust systems.
- Experience using AutoCAD and Bluebeam for reviewing drawings, mark-ups and technical documentation.
- Experience coordinating mechanical and electrical subcontractors and installation works.
- Familiarity with procurement, project scheduling, commissioning and project handover.
- Experience working on construction or infrastructure sites.
- Familiarity with project management or job management software.
What We Offer
- The opportunity to manage projects from planning through to completion.
- A varied role combining project management, engineering and practical site experience.
- Exposure to a range of generator installation projects and associated systems.
- The opportunity to work closely with management and contribute to the continued growth of the business.
Working Arrangements
This is a full time position based primarily at our South Windsor office, with travel to project sites as required.
