Pugsley Court Agents

Darwin

Pugsley Court Agents Inc. is seeking a reliable independent contractor to assist with process serving, court filing, document pickup and delivery, and related field assignments throughout Darwin and surrounding communities.

This is flexible, assignment-based field work suited to someone professional, responsive and comfortable driving locally and providing clear, detailed updates.

Process-serving compensation

- A$30 per service attempt
- A$0.40 per kilometre for assignment-related travel
- A$15 bonus upon successful service
- Related assignment disbursements reimbursed
- Fees charged to swear or affirm PCA affidavits reimbursed with a receipt
- Hours and invoices submitted every two weeks

The service-attempt rates above do not set a fee for a separate court-filing, document-retrieval or other non-service assignment. The scope and compensation for that work are agreed before acceptance.

Workload and timing

The general expectation is that the first service attempt will be made within 3 business days of receiving the assignment. Follow the specific instructions and agreed deadlines for each file.

We usually recommend grouping work into approximately two service runs per week where practical, to make routes efficient while meeting the first-attempt expectation. We are building local volume, so it may take time to provide enough assignments for regular full runs.

Assignments are offered as work becomes available. Hours, assignment volume and earnings are not guaranteed.

Responsibilities

The contractor may be asked to:

- Serve legal documents on individuals and businesses

- Make service attempts at residential and commercial addresses
- Attend courthouses to file or retrieve documents
- Pick up and deliver legal documents
- Record accurate dates, times, addresses and factual notes after each attendance
- Provide PCA with an update promptly after every attempt or completed task
- Review affidavits prepared by PCA for factual accuracy
- Arrange swearing or affirmation where required
- Scan and return completed affidavits electronically
- Mail original affidavits when the file instructions require it
- Perform other agreed court-running or legal-support assignments

Responsiveness

Robust communication is essential. Provide an update after every service attempt, ordinarily within 60 minutes. Respond promptly about active files, be especially responsive on urgent assignments, and report safety concerns, problems or unexpected developments immediately.

Requirements

- A reliable vehicle, valid driver's licence and valid automobile insurance
- A smartphone with reliable data and email access
- Access to a computer, printer and scanner
- Strong written communication and attention to detail
- The ability to handle confidential legal documents securely
- A calm,

professional manner and good judgment in the field
- The ability to work independently and follow assignment-specific instructions
- Willingness to cover Darwin and agreed surrounding communities
- Any qualifications, licences or authorisations legally required for the assignments you accept

Process-serving, courier, legal-support, security, investigative, court or law-enforcement experience is an asset. Prior process-serving experience is not a general entry requirement; any legally required qualifications must still be held before accepting relevant work.
