The Client

Our client, EGS, is a multi-national organisation operating in Europe, the Americas, Asia and Australia. EGS provides a wide range of marine survey services to the Telecommunications, Renewables, Oil & Gas, Charting and Marine Infrastructure sectors.

Due to an increase in demand for EGS services based out of Australia, they are seeking an experienced Hydrographic Surveyor to lead data processing and reporting out of their Western Australian branch.

The Role

Based at the EGS branch in South Fremantle, the Hydrographic Surveyor – Data Processing is responsible for turning raw survey data into client deliverables. The role is primarily office-based, with occasional offshore or site work to support acquisition and online QC. EGS estimates the following workload:

Onshore

- South Fremantle office – processing, QC and reporting
- Approximately 80 % of the time

Offshore & Inshore

- North-west Australia, wider Australia and international
- Approximately 20% of the time

Multibeam bathymetry accounts for over half of the workload, with geophysical (side scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler, magnetometer), UXO, ROV support and geotechnical support data making up the remainder. EGS operates a large suite of equipment and software including Kongsberg, Reson, Edgetech, Applanix, QINSy, Qimera, CARIS and EIVA.

The Hydrographic Surveyor – Data Processing is responsible for the quality and delivery of processed geospatial data to EGS and client specifications. You will be involved in:

- Processing and cleaning of MBES bathymetry, backscatter and geophysical datasets
- Tide, sound velocity, motion and positioning corrections and total propagated uncertainty assessment
- Production of surfaces,



contours, charts, alignment sheets and GIS deliverables
- QC of acquired data against IHO, client and EGS specifications, and feedback to the field team
- Preparation of survey reports, processing logs and metadata
- Developing and maintaining processing workflows, templates and standards
- Survey planning support and input to tenders
- Mentoring junior processors and surveyors
- Occasional offshore work as online surveyor or processing lead

The role may also include CPD training, UAV training and certification, and networking opportunities at Hydro and Subsea events.

The Candidate

EGS is seeking a qualified Hydrographic Surveyor with at least 5 years' experience in hydrographic data processing and reporting, with the following criteria:

- University degree in Hydrography, Surveying, Geomatics or a closely related marine or spatial discipline
- Robust experience with Qimera, CARIS HIPS & SIPS and/or EIVA NaviModel
- Experience with QINSy or similar acquisition software and an understanding of the full survey workflow
- Working knowledge of GIS and CAD (QGIS/ArcGIS, AutoCAD) for deliverable production
- Sound understanding of geodesy, datums, tides and uncertainty
- Experience producing deliverables to IHO S-44 and client specifications
- Ability to work away from home for short periods when required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

Renumeration
$100,000 – $110,000 Per Year + Super + Onsite Allowance
