About the role

TREXIM Group Pty Ltd is looking for an experienced and hands-on Vehicle Trimmer to join our team in Artarmon.

This is a full time position involving the installation, repair, modification and replacement of vehicle interior and exterior trim, as well as vehicle reassembly and preparation for customised applications.

You will work with a variety of materials, tools and equipment to ensure vehicles are completed to a high standard and meet the required specifications.

Key responsibilities

Conducting vehicle trimmer maintenance tasks, including technical inspection and classification within time frames specified in Work Orders to the required Work Standards and/or the standard detailed in material specific instructions.

This may include:

- Installing, repairing and replacing the exterior trim of vehicles such as door trims of a vehicle using hand-tools and portable power tools so that proper wrapping techniques are applied
- Installing, repairing and replacing the interior trim of vehicles such as seats, linings, floor coverings, door-armrests of a vehicle using hand-tools and portable power tools so that proper customised upholstery techniques are applied
- Creating Templates for re-application of badges, removing badges
- Modifying the seats, upholstery, roof and door linings, and floor coverings of a vehicle and assembling line vehicles to special requirements
- Cutting and shaping panels of sheet-metal, aluminium and reinforced plastic and attaching to frameworks using hand and power tools
- Preparing framework sections in metal, wood, fibreglass and other materials using shaping machines and cutting and welding equipment
- Measuring to determine location of other fixtures, such as curtains, handles, signal cords, and door hardware, using gauges, and secures fixtures in place, using screwdrivers and portable power tools
- Attaching door trims, rubber seals, locks and handles,



bolting door tracks and posts to side of car, using impact wrench, guiding door into tracks, using hoist, and positioning and fastening windows in casings, using screwdrivers
- Bolting, screwing, and welding sections together to form complete frameworks and ensuring that all bolts and clips are installed back to factory standard, or how it arrived
- Manufacturing work according to drawings and sketches
- Re-assembling all the vehicle parts ensuring the vehicle can function correctly
- Checking all electronics (lights, mirrors, sensors, cameras etc.) are functioning correctly once wrapping process has been completed

· Selecting and cutting pieces of fabric, vinyl and leather and sewing pieces together using heavy-duty sewing machines

- Taking notice/record of any broken/missing parts and notifying Manager, reporting all warranty requests to manager and take note of recurring problems

About you

We are looking for someone who:

- Has a relevant trade qualification in automotive trimming and upholstery, or at least three years of relevant work experience as a Vehicle Trimmer in lieu of a formal qualification
- Has strong practical and technical skills
- Is confident using hand tools and portable power tools
- Has experience working with fabric, vinyl, and other materials
- Can read and work from drawings and sketches
- Has good attention to detail and takes pride in their workmanship
- Can work independently while also contributing effectively to a team
- Understands the importance of completing work safely, accurately and within required timeframes
- Is able to identify and report faults or missing components
