Fresh Produce Department Manager – Minimum 2 Years’ Experience – Brand New Store Farmers Fresh Campsie

Farmers Fresh is a growing, family-owned fresh food retailer looking for an experienced, hands-on Fresh Produce Department Manager to take full ownership of our fruit and vegetable department.

This role suits a solid leader who understands fresh produce, knows how to run a team and can deliver results across quality, presentation, sales and profitability.

About the role

You will take control of the entire department, with responsibility for:

Managing all day-to-day department operations, including stock, presentation, staff and performance.

Managing gross margins, product pricing, cost of goods and department profitability.

Controlling ordering, stock levels, stock rotation, markdowns and waste.

Checking deliveries for quality, quantity and accuracy.

Maintaining fresh, full and attractive displays with clear, accurate pricing.

Leading, training and organising the team, setting clear expectations and holding staff accountable.

Planning daily workloads and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.

Delivering excellent customer service.

Maintaining cleanliness, food safety and workplace safety standards.

Working closely with our buying team and management to improve department results.

What we’re looking for





A minimum of two years’ experience managing a fresh produce department.

Strong produce knowledge, including quality, seasonality, handling and storage.

A clear understanding of gross margins and how to manage a profitable department.

Proven leadership skills and the ability to organise, motivate and develop a team.

Confidence making decisions, solving problems and taking responsibility for results.

A hands-on approach, leading by example and working alongside your team.

Strong communication, organisation and time management skills.

Availability for early starts and weekend shifts.
