The Old Woolstore
Hobart
We’re proud Tasmanians behind two of Hobart’s much-loved hotels, The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel and Hadley’s Orient Hotel, and we’re looking for a Finance and Business Support Officer to join our Finance team on a part-time basis. The Old Woolstore offers a home away from home, combining the convenience of apartment style accommodation with the comforts of a full-service hotel. Hadley’s blends heritage charm with contemporary hospitality and is proudly home to the Hadley’s Art Prize and our renowned Afternoon Tea.
If you enjoy working with numbers, find a well-organised spreadsheet oddly satisfying, and like a role with plenty of variety, this could be right up your alley.
This is a hands-on role spanning payroll, finance and people & culture administration. Strong payroll experience is essential, along with bookkeeping skills and a healthy appreciation for getting the details right. Confidentiality, of course, is non-negotiable.
What you’ll be doing
- Managing end-to-end payroll, including STP, superannuation and payroll tax.
- Looking after accounts payable and receivable, banking and reconciliations.
- Supporting month-end finance processes and reporting.
- Maintaining accurate and compliant employee, payroll and HR records.
- Helping our People & Culture team with general administrative tasks including onboarding, recruitment, contract and other document preparation.
- Working with the wider team to find smarter, better ways of doing things.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Robust end-to-end payroll experience, preferably within a larger workforce.
- At least five years’ experience across payroll, bookkeeping, finance administration or a similar combined role.
- Experience with AP/AR, banking, reconciliations and month-end processes.
- Confidence using cloud-based accounting and payroll systems. Experience with Xero and Employment Hero will be favourably considered.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills and excellent attention to detail.
- A practical, organised and collaborative approach to your work.
- Knowledge of the Hospitality Industry (General) Award and a Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping (or equivalent) would be advantageous.
- Most importantly, you’ll take pride in getting things right, enjoy working with others and be comfortable juggling a few priorities when things get busy.
Why join us?
You’ll be part of a friendly, supportive team where people matter. We’ll help you settle in, build your skills and provide opportunities to grow within the business for the right person. You’ll also have access to partner benefits, including discounted tickets and offers to select events, sporting fixtures and shows (subject to availability).
Sound like you?
Apply via SEEK or Employment Hero with a cover letter or short video telling us what makes you great at balancing payroll, finance and administration, and how you’d bring those qualities to the role.
Applications should be addressed to our Financial Accountant, Akiko Sakabe. A position description is available from our People and Culture Manager, Charné McLachlan, at ***@oldwoolstore.com.au. Applications will be reviewed as they are received.
