Working in a crew of 3–5, you’ll be:
- Laying pipes, setting up lasers and preparing bedding
- Working to line and level
- Communicating clearly with the operator and crew during pipe installation and backfilling
Have the practical skills but no formal qualification? We can support you with a recognised pipelaying course.
Excavator Operators
You’ll safely operate 5–35 tonne excavators, carrying out:
- Trenching, final trim and deep excavations
- Excavation around existing services
- Shoring installation and basic lifting tasks
- Installation and relocation of services
You’ll need relevant operating experience and tickets, and the ability to work closely with pipelayers and ground crews. We also support experienced operators to gain additional plant tickets.
Labourers
You’ll help keep the crew moving by:
- Setting up the site
- Helping the operator and pipelayer with daily tasks
- Learning the routine and taking initiative with familiar work
- Building your skills in pipelaying or operating, if that interests you
Some construction experience is helpful, along with a willingness to learn and get involved. There are also opportunities for people who show a strong work ethic to work towards a truck licence.

- Career pathways into specialised roles and leadership
- Recognition awards, including gift cards or a bonus day of annual leave

- Relevant machinery tickets for Operator roles
- Reliability, a safe approach to work and a willingness to pitch in
- Transparent communication and the confidence to speak up early if something isn’t right
- Availability for day shift, night shift, overtime, weekend and occasional away work, depending on project requirements
Successful applicants will need to complete pre-employment testing, including a medical.
