St Andrew’s College is a world-class University College within the University of Sydney, providing 400 residential students breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. We cater for many events, from VIP lunches for 2 guests, up to 250 sit-down dinner guests.

The College is seeking a Kitchen Assistant / Kitchen Hand to support the day-to-day operations of the kitchen through food preparation and maintenance of a clean & hygienic work setting. The role will work across a 7-day roster, with the flexibility to accept additional shifts as and when they become available.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Assisting the chefs in the preparation of food including mainly cold foods e.g. salads, fruit and vegetables, and sandwiches

- Receiving, storing, handling, sorting and distributing food items

- Cleaning benches, floors and other kitchen areas

- Washing and cleaning utensils and dishes

- Disposing of rubbish





- Ensuring the kitchen is maintained in a clean and sanitary condition

- Implementing all hygiene and Health & Safety regulations

The successful applicant must have:

- Current experience working in a high-volume food service venue, function centre, hotel, restaurant or other commercial kitchen environment

- Be a team player

- Good communication skills

- Ability to follow directives and a willingness to learn new skills

- Have full working rights in Australia

- Previous experience in a College/School environment is highly regarded
