Burnie

Law Graduate– Property & Conveyancing
Burnie, Tasmania | Full-time (part-time considered)

About us
Our client is a boutique law firm with offices interstate and is opening in Burnie.

We are looking for a Law Graduate with a background as property/conveyancing experience.

The firm is personal and doesn't run on layers of hierarchy. Clients deal directly with the person handling their matter, and practitioners get the support of an established multi-office firm.

The role
You'll support our solicitors on property and conveyancing matters and help with the firm's wider general law work. You'll run files from contract to settlement and be a main contact for clients, agents and other practitioners. Day to day, you'll:

- Manage residential and commercial conveyancing files under solicitor supervision, from receiving the contract through to settlement

- Prepare and review contracts, transfers, discharges, caveats and other title documents

- Order and review searches through the Land Titles Office (the LIST), councils and other authorities

- Prepare and run electronic settlements in PEXA, including statements of adjustments and settlement figures

- Arrange duty assessments with the State Revenue Office and handle trust account requirements

- Liaise with clients,

real estate agents, banks, brokers and other firms

- Help with general practice matters such as wills and estates, leasing and commercial work

- Handle general legal administration, including file opening, diary management, correspondence and billing support

About you

- You have experience in conveyancing or as a property paralegal. Tasmanian experience is highly regarded, but if you've worked interstate we'll still consider you

- You're confident using PEXA and practice management software

- You're very organised and can keep several files moving to deadline without losing track of detail

- You write and speak clearly and professionally, and you're good with clients

- You can work independently and also pitch in as part of a small team

- A qualification in law.

What we offer

- A supportive boutique environment with direct access to senior practitioners

- Room to grow in your career as the firm expands across three states

- Wide-ranging work across property and general practice

- Flexibility and work–life balance in the heart of the North-West Coast
