Turn your payroll systems expertise into better, smarter and more reliable payroll outcomes!
This is an opportunity to take the functional lead on payroll systems at UniSQ, working across PeopleSoft HCM payroll modules and UKG Time and Attendance to translate complex payroll, Enterprise Agreement and legislative requirements into accurate and compliant system outcomes. You’ll combine hands-on configuration with business analysis, testing and continuous improvement, while helping build internal payroll systems capability and identifying opportunities for automation and AI to strengthen payroll accuracy and compliance.
Who you are
You’re an experienced payroll systems, HRIS or HCM professional who understands how technology, payroll rules and compliance come together. You may currently be working as a Payroll Systems Analyst, Payroll Systems Specialist, HRIS/HCM Analyst or in a similar functional role supporting enterprise payroll technology.
You bring practical experience in functional business analysis within a payroll or HCM environment in a large organisation, including configuration of enterprise payroll and time and attendance systems. You’re confident investigating complex systems issues, working with business and technical stakeholders, and translating payroll requirements into explicit functional specifications and test scenarios. Knowledge of PeopleSoft HCM payroll modules or UKG is desirable.
What you'll do
As the Senior Business Analyst for Payroll Systems, you’ll work across PeopleSoft HCM payroll modules and UKG Time and Attendance, translating complex payroll, leave, time and attendance, Enterprise Agreement and legislative requirements into effective system solutions. You’ll lead functional business analysis, configure and enhance payroll functionality, investigate complex system issues, and develop functional specifications and test scenarios. You’ll also undertake user acceptance and regression testing, validate payroll data and interfaces, support system users,
and work closely with business and technical stakeholders to strengthen internal capability and improve payroll processes, data flows and reporting. Importantly, you’ll have the chance to identify ways automation and AI can further strengthen payroll accuracy and compliance.
What will help you succeed
You’ll bring solid experience in payroll systems, HRIS or HCM, ideally gained within a large and complex organisation, alongside experience in functional business analysis and configuring enterprise payroll and time and attendance systems. Knowledge of PeopleSoft HCM payroll modules or UKG will be highly regarded, as will your understanding of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements, including taxation, superannuation, Single Touch Payroll and Enterprise Agreement provisions affecting pay. You’ll be a confident analytical thinker who can investigate complex system issues, translate business requirements into practical functional solutions, work collaboratively with business and technical stakeholders, and communicate clearly with system users. Within your first year, you’ll have taken ownership of payroll and time configuration from external partners, documented how our systems work, delivered legislative and Enterprise Agreement changes on time, and become the trusted go-to person for payroll systems across the University.
