Join Our Team | Senior Medical Receptionist

We are seeking an experienced, organised and motivated Senior Medical Receptionist to join our friendly and professional medical practices in Butler and Merriwa.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced medical receptionist who enjoys taking initiative, supporting a busy clinical team and helping ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of a medical practice.

Working closely with the Practice Manager, the Senior Medical Receptionist will play an important role in coordinating front-of-house operations, supporting reception staff and delivering an exceptional experience for patients, doctors and other healthcare professionals.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Practice Manager, your responsibilities will include:

- Overseeing the daily operations of the reception area.

- Providing senior-level support and guidance to medical reception staff.

- Coordinating patient appointments, recalls and follow-ups.

- Managing patient enquiries, bookings and correspondence.

- Supporting doctors and clinical staff with administrative requirements.

- Assisting with staff rostering and workflow coordination

- Maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring confidentiality.

- Monitoring reception procedures and identifying opportunities for improvement.

- Assisting with Medicare billing, EFTPOS transactions and private billing.

- Managing patient concerns and escalating issues appropriately.

- Supporting the Practice Manager with administrative duties and operational projects.

- Ensuring a welcoming, efficient and professional environment for patients and staff.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Previous experience in a medical reception role, preferably in general practice.





- Demonstrated experience in a senior medical administration or team leader position.

- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and general practice workflows.

- Experience handling patient accounts and practice banking

- Experience with Best Practice medical practice software and Medicare billing.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Robust organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands.

- A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and take initiative.

- Confidence supporting and guiding other reception team members.

- A professional, friendly and patient-focused approach.

- A high level of discretion and understanding of patient confidentiality.

- CPR certificate
