Optimum Consulting is partnering with a well-established mining company to appoint a General Manager for its multi-million tonne per annum open cut coal operation in regional Queensland.

This is a career-defining role for a leader who wants real accountability. You’ll own the site’s safety, production and financial performance, with the backing of a stable owner and a long-life asset.

The role

Reporting to the senior executive team, you will:
Lead the site leadership team and set the standard for safety and operational discipline
Drive safe, reliable and cost-effective production against plan
Own site budgets, cost performance and capital priorities
Build a high-performance, accountable culture across the workforce
Maintain solid relationships with stakeholders, regulators and the local community





About you
Proven senior leadership in open cut coal, ideally as General Manager, Site Senior Executive or Mine Manager. Robust operations leaders ready to step up will also be considered
A visible, uncompromising commitment to safety and health
Explicit record of improving production, productivity and cost
Relevant Queensland coal statutory qualifications
The presence to lead people, influence stakeholders and make sound decisions under pressure
