Production Drill Operator - Underground Mining
Broken Hill Mines is seeking an experiencedProduction Drill Operator - Underground Miningto join our operations team at our Broken Hill NSW facility.
This is a full time position based on-site in Broken Hill, NSW.
In this role, you will be responsible for operating drilling equipment in underground mining environments, playing a critical part in our production operations.
You will be working as part of a skilled team to ensure efficient extraction of mineral resources whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities
Operate underground drilling equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with operational procedures and site-specific requirements
Conduct pre-operation inspections and maintenance checks on drilling equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance
Prepare drilling sites and set up equipment according to operational specifications and geological requirements
Monitor drilling operations and collect data relating to hole depth, grade and other relevant parameters
Communicate effectively with underground crew members and shift supervisors to coordinate drilling activities
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and report maintenance issues to the maintenance team
Adhere to all safety protocols, standard operating procedures and site-specific instructions




Maintain accurate records of drilling operations, production data and equipment maintenance activities
Contribute to a positive safety culture by identifying potential hazards and reporting near-misses
Participate in toolbox meetings and ongoing training to maintain competency and awareness
What we're looking for
Current certification as a competent Underground Production Drill Operator or equivalent qualification in drilling operations
Proven experience operating underground drilling equipment in a mining environment (minimum 2 years preferred)
Strong understanding of mining safety regulations, particularly those applicable to underground operations
Ability to work effectively in a team setting and follow instructions from supervisors
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate operational records
Physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces and challenging underground conditions
Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams
Experience with different drilling methodologies and equipment types is advantageous
