About the Role
As our Café Manager, you'll be the driving force behind the commercial and operational success of the Stromlo Leisure Centre Café.
Reporting to the Assistant Venue Manager, you'll lead a dedicated team, oversee daily operations, expand food and beverage offerings, and identify exciting recent opportunities to grow revenue across catering, events, birthday parties and more.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced workplace and gets excited about turning good ideas into great business outcomes.
What You'll Be Doing
Growing the Business
Drive revenue growth and achieve financial targets
Identify new opportunities to increase customer spend
Develop exciting food and beverage offerings
Expand catering, events and birthday party revenue streams
Monitor sales, margins, labour costs and profitability
Leading an Incredible Team
Recruit, coach and develop high-performing team members
Foster a positive, supportive and accountable team culture




Create an environment where people genuinely love coming to work
Lead from the front and inspire exceptional service standards
Delivering Outstanding Customer Experiences
Ensure every customer interaction is friendly, memorable and welcoming
Maintain high standards of café presentation and cleanliness

Running a Smooth Operation
Manage purchasing, stock control and inventory
Maintain food safety and compliance standards
Conduct operational audits and quality checks
Ensure systems and processes support business growth
About You
You're more than an experienced café professional.
You're a leader, motivator, problem-solver and business thinker who knows how to balance customer experience with commercial success.
You'll bring:
At least 3 years' experience in a hospitality or café leadership role
Strong understanding of hospitality operations and food safety requirements
Proven experience leading, coaching and developing teams
A passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences
Commercial acumen and confidence working with budgets, sales and profitability
A proactive mindset focused on growth, innovation and continuous improvement
The ability to build positive relationships with customers, team members and stakeholders
Essential Qualifications
Current First Aid Certificate
Current CPR Certificate




Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) Registration
National Police Check
Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certificate
