This role is essential in ensuring that boarders' clothing, uniforms, and linen are processed efficiently, hygienically, and returned in excellent condition.Working within a school environment, this role requires attention to detail, discretion, and a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of care for students' personal items, as well as supporting school functions where required.Key ResponsibilitiesSort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute boarders' clothing and linenAccurately identify and manage individual student items and labellingOperate laundry equipment safely and efficiently (washers, dryers, ironing equipment)Iron uniforms and garments to a high presentation standardSewing - clothing repairs, attaching labelsWash and iron tablecloths, linens, and other items following school and boarding eventsEnsure uniforms are cleaned and prepared to a high standard for daily school useInspect items for damage, stains, or wear and report as requiredMaintain cleanliness and organisation of the laundry facilityFollow strict hygiene, infection control,



and WHS proceduresManage laundry volumes to meet daily boarding house demandsAssist with stock control of laundry supplies (detergents, etc.)Work closely with boarding staff to ensure timely service deliveryOther DutiesTraffic control during school drop-off and pick-up timeSkills & ExperiencePrevious experience in a laundry, boarding school, hospitality, or similar environmentExperience or confidence with ironing and fabric care is highly desirableStrong attention to detail, particularly in handling individual student itemsAbility to work in a fast-paced, physically active roleGood organisational and time management skillsUnderstanding of safe work practices and manual handlingAbility to work both independently and as part of a teamPersonal AttributesReliable, punctual, and trustworthyRespectful of student privacy and belongingsPositive attitude and strong work ethicFlexible and able to adapt to changing daily priorities, including post-event workloadWhat Can BGS Offer You?
