An established engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to lead its mechanical engineering capability across a portfolio of major projects and brownfield sustaining capital work within the mining and resources sector.
This is a senior technical and people leadership role combining mechanical design responsibility, materials handling expertise, discipline leadership and project delivery.
The Role You will lead and manage the Mechanical Engineering team while taking technical responsibility for selected projects.
Key responsibilities will include:Lead mechanical engineering delivery across major projects and brownfield/sustaining capital scopesProvide technical oversight, checking and sign-off of discipline deliverablesLead mechanical design with a strong focus on materials handling systems and equipmentManage resource allocation across multiple concurrent projectsDevelop estimates, engineering hours and estimating normsMonitor discipline budgets, progress, forecasting and recoveryManage team capability, workload and future resource requirementsSupport recruitment and ongoing development of the engineering teamDrive continuous improvement of engineering tools, systems and processesWork closely with Project Managers,



Project Engineers, discipline leads and senior engineering leadershipUndertake occasional site visits as requiredAbout You To be successful, you will ideally bring:15+ years' mechanical design experience within mining and resourcesAt least 5 years' experience in a Senior or Lead Mechanical Engineering roleExperience delivering multidisciplinary projects within an engineering consultancy or EPCM environmentStrong materials handling experience is essentialDemonstrated experience leading and managing mechanical engineering teamsStrong knowledge of engineering design, checking and technical governanceExperience managing engineering budgets, estimates, resources and deliverablesStrong written and verbal communication skillsA dependable and organised approach with the ability to deliver on project commitmentsIf you are an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer with a robust materials handling background and the capability to lead an engineering team across multiple mining projects, we would like to hear from you.
