The Company

A well-established provider of essential waste and environmental services is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead collection activities across the Armidale region. The business operates within a regulated, safety-critical setting and services council and community contracts across regional NSW.

The Position

This is a hands-on operational leadership role, responsible for managing the safe and efficient delivery of waste collection services while also performing regular driving duties when required.
Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will oversee day-to-day operations, lead frontline teams, manage compliance and safety standards, and ensure service delivery meets contractual and performance expectations.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage daily waste collection operations across the Armidale region
- Lead and support drivers and operational staff
- Ensure WHS, NHVR and regulatory compliance at all times
- Monitor routes, productivity and labour usage
- Oversee pre-starts, debriefs, run sheets and incident reporting
- Maintain strong relationships with council stakeholders
- Resolve operational issues quickly and effectively
- Prepare operational reports and analyse performance trends




- Drive employee engagement through toolbox talks and communication
- Maintain depot, fleet and yard standards
- Support continuous improvement and operational efficiencies

About You

- Proven experience in operations management within a blue-collar environment
- HR licence required
- Strong understanding of WHS and NHVR requirements
- Confident leading teams in a hands-on, operational role
- Strong communication, problem?solving and organisational skills
- Able to manage competing priorities in a regional setting
- Experience in waste management or council contracts is advantageous
