Machinist to set up, program and run their DMG MORI NLX2500/700 CNC lathe, with some machining centre work as needed.
This is production work, not just one-off custom jobs. If you only want custom work, this isn’t the role for you.
What you’ll be doing

- Setting up, programming and operating the CNC lathe to engineering drawings and specs
- Selecting cutting tools, speeds and feeds to keep jobs running efficiently
- Doing first-off and in-process inspections to tolerance with micrometers, verniers and gauges
- Troubleshooting and fixing problems during machining runs
- Carrying out routine machine maintenance
- Working with the production team to schedule and prioritise jobs

What you’ll need

- 2+ years setting up, programming and operating CNC Machines
- CNC Lathe machine operating experience
- Ability to write and edit G-code and M-code at the machine
- Knowledge of tooling, speeds and feeds, and experience reading drawings and holding tight tolerances
- Experience machining stainless, mild steel, aluminium and plastics
- Comfortable with production runs as well as one-off jobs




- Full working rights in Australia
- Reliable transport or train access to Minto for a day shift start
- Steel caps and full PPE

Highly regarded

- Cert III in Engineering (Machining) or fitter and machinist trade
- DMG MORI / Mori Seiki experience, especially the Celos control and multi-axis turning
- Fanuc control experience on machining centres
- Rail, mining, medical or oil and gas precision work
