Osborne Richardson is working with a large, rapid-growing South East Queensland council to find a Rapid Response Officer for its City Safety team.
This is a hands-on, field-based role responding quickly to local law and public safety concerns in areas with higher rates of anti-social behaviour, helping keep the city safe, tidy and liveable.
You’ll spend most of your day out in the community, patrolling hotspots, dealing with members of the public and resolving issues on the spot. The role suits someone who is calm under pressure, communicates well, and takes pride in doing the job properly and professionally.
The role starts on a 3-month contract with a strong view to ongoing work, paying $39 per hour plus super.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and remove abandoned vehicles, shopping trolleys and illegally placed signage across the city
- Carry out proactive and reactive patrols of hotspot locations, and re-inspect sites for compliance
- Carry out impounding duties, including ownership checks, releasing impounded goods and supporting impounded vehicle auctions
- Use authorised person powers under the Local Government Act 2009 and the relevant local laws
- Keep accurate file notes, inspection reports and evidence in council systems and mobile apps
- Give clear, respectful advice to customers, including in difficult or escalated situations
- Help with community education and awareness campaigns
About You
- Experience in compliance, local laws, parking, security, field operations or a similar frontline customer-facing role
- Strong conflict resolution skills, able to stay professional, courteous and non-judgemental with the public
- Good written skills for clear, factual reports and correspondence
- Comfortable working on your own in the field as well as part of a close team
- Confident using mobile technology and learning new systems
- Familiarity with the Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act 1995 and local laws is highly regarded but not essential
- Current C class driver’s licence
