Medical reception… but a little different

The Village Medical Practice is not your ordinary GP practice — and this isn't your ordinary medical reception role either.

We are a private, family GP-owned practice that believes in the more traditional style of general practice: getting to know our patients, looking after families over the years, and creating a place where both patients and staff feel they belong.

A big part of what makes us The Village is our team — and our slightly unusual addition of our very own coffee shop, The Bothy, right inside the practice.

So, we're looking for a permanent part-time Medical Receptionist / Barista to join us.

Yes… Receptionist AND Barista.

One minute you might be booking an appointment, answering a patient enquiry or helping one of our doctors — the next you could be making a flat white for a patient waiting to see their GP.

It's definitely not your standard reception job!

About the position

This is a permanent part time position of 20 hours per week, on a regular roster we agree with you before you start.

Your hours will be:

- Every Sunday morning (we're open 7:30am to 1pm)

- Weekday shifts to make up the rest of your 20 hours, agreed with you up front

Sunday mornings are a must for this role, so we'd love to hear from people who can commit to every Sunday — and who enjoy variety, love working with people and are just as comfortable behind a reception desk as behind a coffee machine.

What you'll be doing

Your day may include:

- Welcoming patients and visitors to the practice

- Answering telephone enquiries and assisting patients

- Scheduling and managing appointments

- Processing payments using Best Practice and EFTPOS

- Scanning, emailing, filing and managing clinical and administrative documentation

- Liaising with medical specialists, allied health professionals and other healthcare providers

- Assisting with Medicare, WorkCover and general medical administration

- Maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality at all times

- Making and serving barista coffee,



drinks and light food through The Bothy, following safe food handling practices

- Keeping reception, patient areas and The Bothy welcoming and well presented

- Supporting our doctors, nurses and fellow admin team members

- And, like everyone at The Village, pitching in when something needs doing

Who we're looking for

Previous medical reception experience is essential for this role.

You'll also need:

- Availability to work every Sunday morning

- Experience using Best Practice (BP Premier) — ideally 12 months or more

- Strong customer service and communication skills

- A friendly, professional and approachable manner

- Excellent multitasking and organisational skills

- Confidence working in a busy medical practice

- The ability to stay calm when five things seem to happen at once

- Strong attention to detail

- An understanding of the importance of patient confidentiality

- A real team mentality

- A Food Handler certificate, or willingness to complete one before you start

Previous barista experience is a bonus, but not essential — we can teach you the coffee side of Village life.
