About Manteena
Manteena delivers construction, fit-out and refurbishment projects valued from under $1 million to over $50 million across the ACT and Australia. We're proud of our reputation for delivering quality projects while maintaining a strong focus on safety, collaboration and people. Our continued growth provides genuine long-term career opportunities for team members who are looking to learn, develop and build their future within the construction industry.
Build a Career in Construction Safety with Manteena
Are you passionate about workplace health and safety and looking to build a long-term career in the construction industry?
At Manteena, safety isn't a box to tick or a pile of paperwork to sign off. It's the foundation of everything we do. Delivering the landmark projects we do across the ACT and Australia requires managing real-world complexity. That's why we look for people who care about the human side of construction.
We are looking for a Cadet Safety Advisor to join us in January 2027. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience, work alongside some of the best safety professionals in the industry and build a long-term career in one of the most important functions within our business.
About the Role
You don't need to have spent years behind a desk to excel in safety. In fact, the best safety leaders are often the ones who already know what a live site looks, smells, and feels like.
Whether you're bringing hands-on construction experience, currently studying a relevant discipline, or looking to build a long-term career in safety, this is where your next chapter starts.
You won't be thrown into the deep end or left to figure it out alone. From Day 1,
you'll walk side-by-side with senior safety mentors and project teams. You'll learn the art and science of construction safety on real projects, building the confidence, technical knowledge and practical skills required to progress into a Safety Advisor role.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting site inspections, audits and safety initiatives across active construction projects
- Assisting with toolbox talks, site inductions and risk assessments
- Learning how to review SWMS, contractor documentation and compliance records
- Participating in incident investigations and safety reporting
- Working closely with project teams to promote a positive safety culture
- Developing practical knowledge of WHS legislation, systems and industry best practice
- Supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of Manteena's WHS Management System
Who You Are
We are looking for someone who understands construction, respects the people doing the work, and wants to make a real difference.
You'll be a excellent fit if you have:
- A genuine passion for protecting people and creating safer workplaces.
- On-site construction experience or current studies in a relevant discipline (WHS, Building & Construction).
- Strong communication skills: you know how to talk to anyone on site, from an apprentice to a project director.
- A current Australian driver's licence, reliable transport, and a strong drive to learn.
A trade qualification (Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, Scaffolding, etc.), a Cert IV in WHS, or existing White Card/Asbestos/Silica awareness certifications are a major plus, but your attitude and willingness to grow are what matter most.
Why Build Your Future with Manteena?
People stay at Manteena for a long time, and for good reason. We're a values-based, family-friendly company that genuinely respects work-life balance. We believe in taking care of the people who build our reputation.
- We offer structured, hands-on mentoring and financial study assistance to help you complete or advance your WHS qualifications.
- Access our employee bonus scheme, competitive compensation, and genuine pathways for long-term career progression.
- Work-Life Balance That Counts: Enjoy flexible work arrangements, active health and wellbeing initiatives, including two dedicated "Me Days" per year, and regular team social events.
- Manteena is an equal opportunity employer. We strongly encourage applications from women in construction, First Nations people, and individuals from all backgrounds. We know that diverse perspectives build stronger, safer teams.
- If you're a construction professional looking to take the next step in your career and develop into a safety leadership role, we'd love to hear from you. Submit your resume and a cover letter outlining your interest and suitability for the position.
