Business Systems Analyst

As a Business Systems Analyst, you will partner with business and technology stakeholders to understand needs, challenge assumptions, simplify processes and turn complex requirements into practical, testable solutions. You will also play a hands-on role in translating approved requirements into system configuration, business rules and workflows, then validating that the solution delivers what was intended.

Responsibilities

- Partner with business and technology stakeholders to understand business needs, problems, opportunities and desired outcomes.
- Assess configuration impacts and dependencies, document changes and validate that configured solutions behave as intended. Translate complex business needs into clear, practical and testable functional requirements.
- Analyse current and future-state processes, identifying gaps, dependencies, impacts and opportunities to improve.
- Develop acceptance criteria and maintain requirements traceability throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Work closely with Architecture, Engineering, Quality Engineering and delivery teams to ensure requirements are understood and solutions remain aligned to the intended outcome.
- Get hands-on with the application, translating approved requirements into system configuration, business rules, workflows, parameters and other supported settings.
- Support testing, investigate configuration issues and help resolve problems within your area of responsibility.
- Maintain clear analysis, requirements and configuration documentation to support delivery, release and operational handover.
- Bring structure to ambiguity, facilitate different perspectives and help stakeholders reach a shared understanding of what needs to be delivered.

About You

- Proven experience working as a Business Analyst within a technology, transformation or delivery environment.
- Strong capability across requirements elicitation, functional analysis, process mapping,

acceptance criteria and requirements traceability.
- A structured approach to problem solving, with the ability to distinguish the underlying business problem from the requested solution.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, with the confidence to work across both business and technical audiences.
- The ability to navigate ambiguity, ask the right questions and bring clarity to complex or evolving requirements.
- Strong written communication and the ability to produce clear, concise and usable BA artefacts.
- A genuine interest in systems and how they can be configured to support business outcomes.
- Experience with application configuration, workflows, business rules, parameters or similar system functionality will be highly regarded.
- The judgement to recognise when an issue sits within your remit and when it requires input from Architecture, Engineering or other specialists.
- A practical, cooperative and outcome-focused approach — you're not someone who wants to write a requirements document and hand it over. You want to see the solution through.
