Medical Receptionist | Join a New Medical Practice in Bendigo
There’s something a little different about joining a medical practice at the beginning.
Our client, Maura Medical Centre, is a new clinic in Bendigo, and the owners are looking for a Medical Receptionist who would enjoy being part of their journey. Someone who can provide a warm, organised and reliable experience for patients, while helping establish the everyday rhythms and routines of a new practice.
Experience matters, particularly medical reception experience, and will be highly regarded. But just as important is finding someone whose values and approach genuinely fit the clinic.
The owners are looking for someone who is kind, reliable, respectful and down-to-earth. Someone who takes pride in doing things well, communicates openly, supports the people around them and is willing to learn.
If that sounds like you, they are willing to invest in training and development for the right person.
About the role
As a Medical Receptionist, you’ll be an important part of the patient experience and the day to day running of the clinic.
Working closely with the Practice Coordinator, your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming patients and creating a calm, friendly and professional front of house experience
- Managing appointments, incoming calls and general patient enquiries
- Maintaining accurate patient records, correspondence and documentation
- Processing patient billing and applicable Medicare, DVA, WorkCover and private claims
- Assisting with referrals, results, recalls and follow-up administration
- Managing practice emails and communicating with clinicians, patients, hospitals, referrers and other providers
- Helping maintain organised and consistent reception processes
- Supporting the Practice Coordinator with agreed administrative and coordination tasks
- Contributing ideas and practical feedback as the clinic establishes its systems and workflows.
What they’re looking for
You may already have solid medical reception experience and be looking for a new environment where you can make a meaningful contribution.
Or you may bring robust reception, administration or customer service skills from another setting and be ready to learn the healthcare side of the role.
Either way, how you work with people will matter.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Previous reception, administration or customer service experience
- Warm, professional and respectful communication skills
- Strong organisation and attention to detail
- The ability to prioritise and remain composed when things get busy
- Confidence using computer systems and learning new software
- An understanding of confidentiality and the importance of handling sensitive information appropriately
- A flexible, team-focused approach
- Curiosity, initiative and a genuine willingness to learn.
The kind of person who will fit well
The clinic is being built around some simple but important values: honesty and humility, reliability,
dignity and respect, kindness and warmth.
That means they’re looking beyond a list of technical skills.
They value someone who follows through on what they say they’ll do, treats patients and colleagues with care, is comfortable asking questions, accepts feedback and can admit when they don’t know something.
Someone confident enough to take ownership, but humble enough to keep learning.
If you have the experience as well, fantastic. If you don’t tick every box but have a strong foundation, the right attitude and values that align, the owners are open to providing training and support.
Why consider joining at the beginning?
Joining a new clinic offers something an established practice can’t always provide: the opportunity to be there as the team, routines and ways of working take shape.
You won’t be expected to have all the answers. You will, however, have the opportunity to contribute ideas, provide practical feedback and develop your skills as the clinic grows.
Over time, there may also be opportunities to broaden your skills and take on additional reception or practice coordination responsibilities, with appropriate support and training.
Interested?
If you’re an experienced medical receptionist, we’d love to hear what you could bring to the practice.
And if your experience comes from reception, administration or customer service outside healthcare, but the way this clinic wants to work sounds like you, don’t automatically count yourself out.
Sometimes the right fit is about more than having done exactly the same job before.
