The Role

We are looking for an Owner Side Process Engineer to join the processing team of one of our Tier 1 clients. The role is Brisbane based on a 5/2 roster, and you work directly for the asset owner on a mineral processing operation.

This is an owner’s role, not an engineering services contract. You find the improvement opportunities in the plant, build the business case and own the result. That means sampling and investigating problems, working with suppliers on alternatives, and running the options analysis against a do nothing case so the cost, benefit and return of each option are clear. You take your recommendation to the plant manager, present it to the GM and win support from corporate process engineering and senior leadership to get it funded.

Once an option is approved, you work with the project delivery team through the full project cycle. You are not the designer, but you review and approve the modelling and mass balances, sit in the design reviews and stay involved through installation and commissioning.



You take full ownership of the performance guarantee. You know which levers to pull to get the plant performing, and you make sure the business actually gets the benefit it paid for.

This role suits someone whose drive is technical problem solving rather than a path into management. We’d like to hear from plant based process engineers, and from technical sales engineers at mineral processing suppliers with deep product knowledge in areas such as flotation, thickening, cycloning or slurry pumping.

All site travel, flights and accommodation are covered.

To be considered you must meet the following criteria:

- A tertiary qualification in Chemical, Metallurgical or Process Engineering, or a related field.

- Located in Brisbane, or willing to relocate.

- Previous practical experience in mineral processing within a mining operation or with a mineral processing supplier.

- Strong working knowledge of processing circuits such as pumping, cycloning, flotation or thickening, with the ability to review process models and mass balances.

- Proven ability to develop business cases covering options analysis, cost, benefit and return on investment.

- Experience following improvement projects through delivery, commissioning and performance testing.

- A proactive and analytical approach, with the confidence to challenge existing practice and drive change.

- Exceptional communication skills to engage and influence plant, site and corporate leadership.





- Current Australian drivers licence and full working rights in Australia.

- An overriding commitment to health, safety and environmental responsibility.
